Best all rounder at the moment

This was a discussion that was spawned by a comment in a now-archived thread related to the 3rd ODI between NZ and Australia. Bradman99 and Warner>Everyone held the belief that Shane Watson is the best all rounder in the world at the moment. Yours truly backed Dwayne Bravo as the best all rounder at the moment with the proviso that Jacques Kallis, as an all rounder and a specialist batsman, is beyond the reach of pretty much everybody else. Maybe of all time, arguably. So what are your thoughts? Who is the best all rounder in the world at the moment? Across all forms of the games, if you will.

Shakib Al Hasan for me, the one Bangla player who actually merits the praise their deluded fans bestow on their otherwise pathetic team. Good record in both Tests and ODIs. Watson has an excellent ODI record but needs to do more with the ball in the Tests, to my mind. But he is also up there - I have to admit I thought he was a soft touch who would never do anything meaningful at the highest level but he has transformed over the last 12 months or so. Vettori is good in Tests but when looking at all forms of the game, I'd rate the above two a little higher.

Watson and Vettori are my choices. Shakeb is yet to deliver as a batsman against top sides consistently. Vettori got few centuries to his name. Shakeb hasn't even scored 1000 runs in Tests. Bravo as a bowler have some distance to go.

Bravo shouldn't be in the list, he's a fluke performer like Afridi lol. Watson was my choice. Shakib is coming along good, he scored a century against NZ and a 87, coming along well, wish him all the best, but I still hate BD lol.

Watson and Vettori in my opinion.... Watsons form in last One year is very good...Vettori simply because he is doing Allround job even outside filed (Selector, for some time coach also) Sakib's performance aginst Top teams are Not good enough to label him as NO 1 allrounder

Thanks to the moderator for adding the other options. Interesting to see people pick Yuvraj over Afridi. Yes, one is arguably the better batsman while the other is far and away the better bowler. Still, I would anyday pick Afridi over Yuvraj - especially if it is limited overs cricket. I dont know that I will change the decision too much in Tests - although my hand is forced if Afridi plays the 'retired' card. :) I really have a lot of respect for Bravo as an all rounder. He is a naturally skilled all rounder to start with unlike Vettori. He is also an attacking, wicket taking bowler - again unlike Vettori. As a batsman he is a gifted stroke maker. Statistically he might give some ground to Watson. But there is no comparison as to quality of bowling in Test matches. Watson will not be relied upon to pick wickets at the highest level. Bravo does the job regularly. He is a genuine all rounder in every sense of the word. He is expected to score runs and is expected to take wickets. And he does that both for his beleaguered team. Shakib Al Hassan has to play more in order to stake claim, in my opinion.

But Bravo doesnt fulfilled the promise he shown during Initial period...his batting is not so good now a days.

The entire team is not doing well. But I rate him high as an all rounder. He is a much more talented batsman than, say, Watson. He can play all round the wicket and there are few more graceful and powerful strikers of the ball over extra cover, inside out.
