Pathan back in the swing

Current match between Deccan/Punjab: 0.1 Pathan to Gilchrist, 1 run, tight run. Nice swinging delivery from Irfan, Gilchirst stays back and carefully guides it to cover and runs. A direct hit would have been interesting. 0.2 Pathan to Laxman, no run, short of a length on middle, very slight movement into Laxman. Taps it away to the legside 0.3 Pathan to Laxman, 1 run, fuller this time, on offstump, and shapes back in. Irfan half-stops Laxman's check drive but can't stop the single. One slip for Gilly. 0.4 Pathan to Gilchrist, no run, misses the slog to midwicket. Nice shape away again and not the right shot for that ball. 0.5 Pathan to Gilchrist, 2 runs, nice swing again, and Gilchrist plays it in the air, off the outside half, over cover. Nice fielding at the cover boundary 0.6 Pathan to Gilchrist, no run, and again. Irfan's got that famous banana-swing that was the toast of 2003-04 going. Gilly drives off the front foot to mid off That's exactly the kind of bowling we should see from Pathan! Hopefully he keeps it up. Good luck IP.

He also showed that he is not a lame duck with his batting .. his innings today and shots were lot better than Yusuf's the other day .. they were proper cricketing shots rather than slogs .. he really fits the best in the all rounder spot .. he is one of the best all rounders in world cricket IMO and hope he is included in the team soon .. and I hope he is included very soon in the ODI squad as an all rounder and only as an all rounder (not as a specialist bowler as that would increase the expectation on him)

A IPL lottery performance and people think he is the man. Crapthan stay away
its not only about IPL performance or anything but he is undoubtedly our best all rounder at the moment .. just stop judging him from a specialist bowler or specialist batsman viewpoint and he is easily the best player we have as an all rounder The main options for the all rounder are: 1. Jadeja - ok with the ball but nearly crap with the bat with no power at all 2. Yusuf - a big slogger with immense power but no technique and an average bowler 3. Irfan - ok bowler and good enough batsman with good technique and proper cricketing shots.. good power too though not immense (you might argue about power with the sixes he hits usually are big but I would say timing rather than power for those) We have been checking the best option for the no.7 all rounder spot and frankly speaking nobody fits better in that spot than Irfan .. he is the best all rounder we have for sure .. just stop judging him from a specialist bowler or specialist batsman's viewpoint ... only judge him from an all rounder viewpoint and he is far above the rest

At the moment, Pathan >>>>>>>>> Yuvraj Edit: For the last 100000000000000000 moments too ...
whatcha you saying bro .. UV is a brilliant batsman and Irfan is never going to reach his position in his life .. as an all rounder yes Irfan might be better because UV is not a proper all rounder

Nothing succeeds like success, my friend. I'm not a Yuvi hater, but I'm not a blind worshipper either. What has he done lately to be worth a million bucks in IPL or the hefty reputation he has in international cricket. Zilch! Yuvi is a brilliant batsman WHEN IN FORM, which he isn't. Just like they can't have I. Pathan in team for his bating alone, they can't and should not have Yuvi in the team only for his bowling. Plus the fact that we have many batsmen waiting in line, but there is only one that is remotely close to being called an All Rounder: Irfan Pathan.

Pathans bowling is not good enough, nor his batting. Neither are international class. He is a bits and pieces players and these are not good enough. Just like his brother he gets exposed at top level. Yuvi is as good bowler and so is sehwag. And frankly even Rohit Sharamas bowling is as good. Pathan is simply not good enough and no IPL lottery performances will convince me otherwise

Yusuf Pathan is India's Afridi - FTB & will tonk weak bowlers only. Irfan can bat against intl class bowlers. IKP better than R.Jadeja.
I do not agree with the last sentence. ATM, Jadeja is much better than IKP. To be fair, Jadeja is the No.1 spinner in India

I still think Jadeja is the best man for the #7 spot..I'm not sure how effective IKP's brand of bowling is going to be in a 50 over game. Its too dependant on the conditions for my liking. For 20-20 though I would pick Irafn ahead of Jadeja anyday..Jadeja seems a misfit in the shortest format.

I would pick Irfan ahead of Sreesanth who didn't actually bowl badly looking at the replays. But his bowling length is more suitable for Tests not ODIs. They were perfect length balls pitched in line. Gilly just hit through the line. So i would rather have Irfan ahead of him. That will be Zak, Praveen, Irfan. I cannot tolerate Isant's fielding and his short and wide lengths anymore.
