Vettori celebrated his 100 Test match by spearheading the Black Caps attack against Australia in the second Test match at Hamilton's Seddon Park. The 31-year-old returned with impressive bowling figures of 4-36 and ran out Australian skipper Ricky Ponting. Meanwhile, New Zealand Cricket chief executive Justin Vaughan said that Vettori’s Test goals were “a great endorsement of his character.” “Daniel is statistically aware and knows Test cricket is where you make your name as a player,” Vaughan said. He further said that Vettori is a role model for any youngster in the country, but they don’t want him quitting one-day cricket any time soon. “Vettori is a role model for us through his work ethic, character and the way he is constantly trying to improve himself as well his leadership,” Vaughan added.

Vettori has been such a magnificent cricketer, the heart and soul of NZ cricket over the past few yrs, if an individual was meant to achieve the heights it had to be Kallis or Vettori. A breath of fresh air with his mastery over orthodox spin bowling along with being a proper all rounder, something as rare as the dinosaurs these days.
