New Delhi: The Kochi IPL franchisee, which emerged as a surprise winner at the IPL team auction in March, is now heading for a face-off with commissioner Lalit Modi over ownership issues with reports even indicating that the BCCI may scrap the team. Sources told CNN-IBN that the Board of Control for Cricket in India has told Kochi owner Rendezvous Sports to reveal the complete identity of all it shareholders after its franchise agreement form said it had transferred 25 per cent of its stake to an 'unknown party'. Sources added that the 'unkwon party' comprises of a former captain, a current Indian cricketer and a union minister. But sources from Rendezvous sports have told CNN-IBN that the papers with ownership details will be submitted on Friday. If the Kochi bid is cancelled, Gujarat's Adani Group will be next in line. Rendezvous has reportedly been issued an ultimatum by the BCCI to provide details of the 'unknown party' by Monday or face cancellation of its ownership. Meanwhile, co-owner of the IPL Kochi team Vivek Venugopal told CNN-IBN: "News of transfer of 25 per cent stake to third party is absolutely baseless. We have followed the tender document in letter and spirit. No official statement has come to us from BCCI on any such issue. All documents will be given to BCCI today for clarification." Rendezvous Sports had bought the franchise for a whopping Rs 1,300 crore in the March auction.
What is all the fuss about? :dontknow:

Thread :fail: Lalit Modi, the chairman and commissioner of the IPL, has denied rumours of the Kochi franchisee being scrapped. On his twitter account, Modi said, "No such thing was possible". He also said people should ignore the news since it was "all speculations". Modi said that the only reason there was any delay was because the consortium agreement was not in line with the franchise agreement, but that was being done now. B->

Kochi submits ownership documents The owners of the Indian Premier League newest team, Kochi, submitted the necessary ownership records to the Indian cricket board to clear speculation over their bid being cancelled. This follows reports that the BCCI wanted to know the status of one of the partner in the consortium, who owns a 25% stake. The BCCI had reportedly asked the franchisee to reveal identity of all its shareholders. Kochi officials said they would complete all formalities by April 12. Reports say the IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi will sign the agreement with Kochi officials on Saturday. Mr Modi earlier denied rumours of the Kochi franchisee being scrapped. "No such thing was possible," Modi wrote in his twitter account. He said the delay was because the franchisee agreement was not in line with the consortium agreement. A consortium of various business groups, under the umbrella of Rendezvous, had bid Rs 1300 crore for the Kochi based franchisee at an auction last month. http://www.espnstar.com/cricket/news/detail/item424650/Kochi-submits-ownership-documents/  Mods fix the title please ! It was just another fake news from the self-professed online Sherlock

New twist to IPL Kochi row There are fresh allegations that Gujarat CM Narendra Modi and IPL chief Lalit Modi had come together to get a new team for Ahmedabad. Kochi franchise spokesman Satyajit Gaikwad said everyone knew about Narendra Modi's "nexus" with Lalit Modi and their efforts to deprive Kochi of IPL team and get a slot for Gujarat. Earlier, the Gujarat Chief Minister, who is also president of the Gujarat Cricket Association, choose to distance himself from the controversy by making one of his ministers to refute the allegations against him. "Franchise was awarded to the team following the open bidding process and in that no cricketing association or GCA has any role to play," Gujarat minister of state for home, Amit Shah said in Gandhinagar while rubbishing the allegations levelled by Gaikwad. However, Gaikwad stuck to his allegations, saying, "We were told that we won't be allowed to work." He claimed that the Adani group and Narendra Modi had a stake in the Ahmedabad IPL bid. "After we won the bid, our investors spoke to (former BCCI chief) Sharad Pawar and asked him which city to choose. He said 'you can take your pick', so we decided to take Kochi." However, a senior NCP leader, claimed Pawar had nothing to do with the issue. Speaking on condition of anonymity, he alleged that aides of Minister of State of External Affairs Shashi Tharoor were resorting to such tactics to score some brownie points within Congress by speaking against NCP and Narendra Modi. Tharoor is caught in the controversy amid allegations that his hand was there in Sunanda Pushkar, a close friend, getting free equity worth Rs 70 crore in IPL Kochi, a charge vehemently denied by the minister. The NCP leader said, "the core issue is for what reason the sweat equity was alloted to Sunanda Pushkar and others. There are others also whose names have come to the fore." Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Narhari Amin alleged that it was at Narendra Modi's behest that Lalit Modi is trying to thwart the Kochi franchise. Amin, a former Gujarat Cricket Association president, said the entire controversy stemmed from Adani group's failure to secure the Ahmedabad franchise in the IPL bid last month as Rendezvous Sports World outbid them to bag the Kochi team.
