ludhianvi Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Funny incident occurred today. I was finishing up my breakfast and then heard a funny squeaking sound in the bedroom which caught my attention. When I went to check in the room, there was a flipping sparrow in the bedroom sitting on top of the ceiling fan. Totally caught offguard, first reaction was to shut the door. I must confess I have fear of animals, and bird; never quite got used to them. So went outside to devise a plan get this harmless bird out of my apartment. Opened the main door and the sliding big door in the living room and shut the washroom and bedroom door. Slowly opened the door in which the bird was, and saw that it had created a bit of mess with cards on the floor and it quickly flew out of the room and now the action moved into the living room. It was flying here and there but still not finding the exit, so I got out of the bedroom and thought of turning off the lights in the living room so that it the brighter lights outside will catch its attention. Just after I turned off the living room lights, the flying bird was heading right in my direction, I quickly took evasive action and went inside the bedroom and then closed the door hoping it wouldn't enter the bedroom. Surprisingly, that was a blunder on my part and it got in the bedroom along with me and hid in the boxes in the corner near the ceiling. I was like Oh no, not again. It didnt move and used the broom and banged it on the boxes so that it would fly out again and it did finally work and the bedroom was safe again. Phew! Now back to drawing table and the battle was on in the living room. Again, the bird flew from corner to corner and it would have actually flown out of the living room but someone had shut the sliding door and the bird hit the net (what do you call the sliding door with the net to keep out flies and in this case birds). Someone yells at the back for me to open the sliding door again. I go on the floor and dove across the floor and opened the sliding door, and right then the bird flew out. And I shut the door again in delight and a big relief as if I had just ran out someone in the cricket field. Wow, that was some action. This is a true story and it happened in the morning and after all this my mom wouldnt stop laughing at me. -FML

Ram Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I once had the misfortune of trying to get rid of a frog from my bathroom, it was one THE most unpleasant experience of my life. For starters, I had to work alone because my roomies, after brief attempts at trying get rid of the intruder, simply found it too disgusting and gave up. And to add to my grief, the effin frog, which sat blissfully on the bathroom counter, sometimes appeared totally motionless. So essentially it had its eyes wide open, but wouldn’t respond to any external stimuli (which included throwing mugs of water on it from a distance, prodding it with one end of a stick). And I found it too queasy to simply grab it with my hands and chuck it away.. It came to a point when you didn’t even know if the frog was dead or alive. Finally, after some relentless attempts, it kept jumping around the bathroom for a while, after which I was able to divert it to the main entrance.

You should have served an eviction notice before throwing the poor bird away. :hitler: I once had the misfortune of trying to get rid of a frog from my bathroom, it was one THE most unpleasant experience of my life. Ever since I started slicing them up in the zoology lab, I find it easy to catch them.
DomainK Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 I was staying in a single room in Delhi in my student days and one fine evening at sun set time, a bird decided to fly into my room. It got scared of me, I got scared of it and for sometime we looked at each other trying to decide who was more scared. I switched off the ceiling fan and waited for it to fly out the way it came in. It just sat on top of my book self and refused to move. I thought it was too scared of me, so I went into the bath room and allowed it enough time to gather some courage and fly out. It didn't. I switched off the lights, but it was already too dark outside. I tried t scare it off with a broom, it just flew from one place to another, but remained inside only. After a few hours I knew that I was not going to sleep alone that night. I couldn't switch on the ceiling fan because it would have been dangerous for the bird and at that time I couldnt afford an AC. I left the door open expecting it to fly out into the morning light. I couldnt get any sleep in the terrible Delhi heat without the ceiling fan and together we watched a movie on tv. I fell sleep towards the morning and by the time I woke up, it was already gone. All I was left with was bird poo and some feathers.
varun Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Came back after a week's vacation to a totally locked apartment, and discovered a strange buzzing sound.. Turns out a huge fly (prolly a bluebottle) ramming against the closed window.. I let it out, but it left me wondering if it grew up in the house, as their lifespan is so small. And if it did, how would it cope with the outside world
