The only " grudge " that Tendlya showed was against Zimbabwean Henry Olanga in the final of the Coca cola cup in Sharjah in 98 , after the Zimbabwean got him out cheaply in a league match. Wish Tendlya showed more grudge against the Mcgrath's of the world who have pawned him ALWAYS on the big occasions. Viv grudged against the best of his era and pwned them, as has Sehwag. No other batter as quiet managed to respond to their grudges against bowlers.

Yeah... I did..He hit Mcgrath for 2 sixes i remember and scored 30 odd runs in that innings, after he got hit on the elbow. Wow..that is some revenge and vengeance for being priced out for a duck by his nemesis in the 1999 World Cup in a knock out match for India against Aus ....2003 world cup. En core. Great great player..but to say that his game gave sleepless nights to opposition captain or he was someone who could turn a game in session or delivered consistently when it mattered most, or was a big threat on THE days . IMO not true. Very few people are able to disassociate Tendulkar's great humility, humbleness and general likability when judging him PURELY as a player. On ICF I see only Bumper, Dhondy in that category barring myself.

The amount of deliveries bowled in each of the overs shows how lame the two bowlers were. Seems like an awesome international player smashing some gully bowlers. This has LAAAAAAAAAAAAAMEEEEEEEEEEEE written all over it.

For that matter, this was a knockout game as well in a big tournament. And it's worth noting SRT hit three sixes off McGrath within the first seven overs. Equally notable is the manner in which the runs came - one six over third man, a charge down the track and a lofted six over McGrath's head and a pull over midwicket. Authoritative stuff that really negated Australia's greatest bowler in a big tournament match (and really, as much as you can knock "30 odd runs" or comment on the hit on the elbow - find me a few other instances of McGrath getting hammered like this in a big tournament match, where he normally steps up). Also, going to your point about SRT never holding a grudge against an opposition bowler - he held one here. This was the ONLY game I've seen SRT (and I have been watching the game since 1991/92) ever mouth off to an opposition cricketer. After the embarrassing slaughter down under in 99/00, he was pissed off. It rattled McGrath. And regardless of how many runs came against SRT's name that match, it made a serious impact - negated Australia's best, gave India a very strong platform to reach a good total and eventually win the match. I'm not arguing that SRT has had the better of McGrath regularly (I consider McGrath in a class above almost all other contemporaries in terms of how he could dominate any quality player he came up against - Tendulkar, Lara, Kallis, etc), but saying SRT never would hold a grudge against an opposition bowler or would get constantly pawned by McGrath is exaggeration.

Point well taken..but I clearly remember that abuse by SRT ( rarity ) and subsequent minor assault was after Mcgrath's rising delivery hit him on the elbow and his abuse of SRT after that. That's when SRT lost his cool and retaliated both in words and with the bat. It was no retribution to Tendulkar's duck off Mcgrath's bowling in the 1999 WC knockout match. Out of the dozens of encounters between the 2 greats, how many times has Tendulkar actually been able to get the better of Mcgrath ? But yes you are right, Mcgrath has dominated all comers, no exceptions. I would love to have seen Mcgrath vs Sehwag in tests more often. McGrath was mercillessly pawned in the Nets by Sehwag when he was in the DD team, the team management saw the slaughter and assumed McGrath was off his prime and didnt select him for many games (((hearsay)))
