Passion to play for the country-- Learn it from Aghanistan

Just watched this amazing youtube video... watching the bits from 21:15 to 21:40 is so refreshing ... You feel for the Afghan people... How many Indian players do we see with this kinda passion to represent India.... Literally the only players who gives me this vibe are Sachin or Gambhir....other players play as if its just a money making business....There are no signs of patriotism... Loosing a match means yet another day... I know its just a sport but still there is nothing wrong if they play every match as if its their last match in Indian colors.... [ame=

Proud to be an Afghan[/ame]

You do realize India is no.1 Test team in the world. Viru is no.1 batsman in Tests and Dhoni is no.1 batsman in ODIs and India is no.2 ODI team in the world. Don't give a damn about this lottery format.

It is lottery to some extent. Rest is dependent on your form, performance and commitment on the field. You play well you win, it's really as simple as that just like in Test or ODI. Zimbabwe played well against both Australia and Pakistan and won. For Afghanistan, I got nothing but admiration for their cricketers. Their journey in cricketing world so far has been nothing less than an inspiring and dazzling fairy tale. All the best to them and I will equally be cheering and roaring for you guys as I do for Pakistan. :two_thumbs_up:

Me too. I don't mind India not winning it... we'll win the real deal in 2011 in the subcontinent:winky:... This one should go to someone for whom it would really be something huge !

Bhai I have respect for them since I day I knew they are doing so well even without a single stadium in their whole country .. and their captain gets paid $400 and other players get paid $300 and they toil so hard for such a small amount of money which even we would have never cared ... really respect them

it would be wonderful if bcci builds a new stadium for afghanistan in kabul. maybe they can invite them to india to practice.
The stadium is built in Jalabad and not Kabul I suppose .. and the international wing of the Afghanistan rebuilding organization is building it of which India is a big part too .. so yes India is partially helping in building the stadium . I would not mind them being invited for practice in India too

No.. it is not like ODI and Tests. You just have to do well for a very very short period which even low quality international players can do.

As per wikipedia, though all sports were banned by Taliban during their reign but they allowed cricket .. Afghanistan cricket team was established during the Taliban rule itself before NATO attacked if I read correctly :dontknow:
