Well, let me just ask.. Raina is 23 I believe, Hughes is 21.. does that not factor into the equation ? In 2 years, I'm confident Hughes will be in the Australian side and better than Raina!

Bradman99 - FYI, Raina was in the Indian national team when he was 21. I mean - what Hughes will or will not become two years down the line is not the subject of discussion as I see it. It is about the here and now - is what I thought.

And in those 2 years, Raina would have won the ODI WC for India, become the top 3 ODI batsmen in the world and hit test 100s in Eng, India, WI and Aus :--D

Hughes is very overhyped...he is an awkward batsman....he also has short ball problem and couldnt play short stuff from Harmison and FLintoff in the ashes..plays quite like Viru fashion inside the line of the bowl..try to play every delivery on off side square of the wicket or fine..bt not pleasing to watch like viru

Say what you want about his technique, but after 6 tests matches, 4 against SA and 2 against England he averages 46. His first class average is almost 60. And first class cricket in Australia is not easy, not at all.

Only difference is Kambli had 2 double century in first 4 test And first time he faced Warne, scored 22 runs in 1 over.

Yeah' date=' I'd like to see how he'd go.[/quote'] How is Aaron Finch? You reckon he stands a good chance in the future?
And how does he play spin? Hope he is not another duminy in making .
Duminy is a class apart. We can't compare a novice to a pro, and I say this with all due respect to Phil.

Meh don't think he'll crack it to be honest with you.. Mitch Marsh has a better chance.

That reminds me, where is Shaun Marsh? Has he still not recovered from his injury in this yr's IPL?

Hmm. Getting back to the topic, I think Raina is a promising young cricketer. We may have our doubts about his ability of playing the short ball but he's one of the most dominating cricketers to come out of the subcontinent. And a very consistent one at that. I rate Virat & Suresh very highly.
