How do you prepare yourself for a bouncy wicket? The same damn way every other cricket board helps prepare it's players: By producing a wide variety of pitches from turners to fast bouncy pitches that encourage fast bowling with good bounce so that batsmen right from the start are getting practice in all areas. BCCI may be the richest cricket board in the world, but it's also one of the dumbest.

Aren't you giving too much credit there?

I don't see CA, ECB, CSA boards investing arm and a leg on spin friendly wickets so that their players don't struggle on slow rank turners in Asia. Having said that, I'm not playing devil's advocate for BCCI and agree that we need to start producing variety of pitches not because we're doing bad in t20 but cricket in India needs different flavor rather than 800ish runs scored in a single ODI. In the midst of hating the BCCI we're forgetting the real culprits. How many of our youngsters are actually willing to go an extra mile in the nets to iron out their deficiencies ? Tendulkar, Sehwag, Laxman, RSD et al too were born in India and played on the slow tracks (sans better facilities compared to what our younger cricketers get) yet they are fantastic players off short pitched stuff. The reason was they had extra session with their respective batting coaches and fought fire with fire.

In India domestic cricket they must take off the bouncer restriction.
they need to import some pitches too... lets have a bouncy swinging seaming Ranji tournament for once...

India should have never failed in Barbados because that pitch was just bouncy nothing else. No lateral movement. No seam or swing movement. India's traditional weakness is seam movement more than bounce. So it was all the more appalling.

Its not easy to produce the sort of wickets you see in Aus/SA/NZ in India .... my take is that the climate and soil have a huge part to play. To their credit BCCI undertook a proj to do this about 3 yrs ago wherein they asked a pitch expert from NZ (or Aus ) to build a new wicket at some of our grounds which made absolutely no difference. I think they even tried getting soil from those countries IIRC.
I think they brought in a pitch from somewhere as well

by learning how to leave them. look at how pak played aussies - they hardly touched a short delivery, and look at how we played them - jumping in the air and trying to hook them.
