vvvslaxman Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 If India needs to have a chance in 2011 cup we must identify wicket takers not darters and pie chuckers. You have to genuinely create chances. India's 1983 world cup, 1985 benson hedges wins were on the back of wicket taking bowlers. Steve smith, Hauritz may not be the greatest spinners to be playing currently. They are never afraid to toss the ball up to buy wickets even in the shortest format. So is Swann, Randiv, Ajmal. We had 4 darters in our line up. It is atrocious to watch Yusuf pathan keeps darting on the pads of left handers and Jadeja darting on the middle stump.Yuvraj is another darter. Bhajji himself is a darter. Windies and Australia didn't take chance against him consciously. But SL did no such favors. In a 50 over game only way you break the momentum or prevent late order assault is by constantly picking wickets. This zero penetration bowling is going to put even more pressure on our batters. Every time they walk out to the middle they would be required to put up a total like 400 yet feel unsafe. Time to try out other spinners as well. I wouldn't mind giving another look at Powar.
gaurav92 Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Ajmal darts them in too.He is a sort of bowler who gets wickets off his quicker ball doosra which the batsmen are unable to pick from the hand. Also to mention that he is a death bowler for Pak in the absence of Gul .So he gets lucky when batsmen try to slog every ball. Well i agree worth you that we need to pick wickets rather than trying to be conservative. As they say, Wicket is the best way to put the brakes on the scoring rate.I somehow feel that under MSD's captaincy, our bowlers look to lower down the scoring rate rather than taking wickets, even if he has a slip, our bowlers dart them into the pads.Even if one ball is perished to the boundary, the next ball will be the darter, whereas other spin bowlers do not get discouraged and toss it once again. We are said to have a good spin option, but if you really look into it, you will find that we are one of the most expensive spin attacks in the world (in terms of economy rate). We need quality spinners who look to give the ball some air and try to deceive the batsmen.

f2000560 Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Ashwin' date='Ojha,Mishra are the only ones we have...[/quote'] ashwin positive is he can bat a bit.. negative is two off spinners in a side with bhajji already there is one too many.
mastana Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Bhajji is a wicket taker? I thought his job is to contain? Salla can't even contain wicket kya ghanta lega. :wall:
kabira Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Amit Mishra is one for sure. He needs captains backing. He can get you wickets with right field setting. I still like Sreesanth, he is your wicket taker.
maheshw Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Its not just the spinners. Our entire bowling attack is sh*t right now.
Zelig Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Ashwin and Mishra. I'd like to see Mishra work extra hard on his fielding. B!tch cudn't catch a fly during the IPL:mad:
achilles Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Spinners- Harbhajan Singh, Pragyan Ojha. Pacers- Sreesanth, PK.
TheWall Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Ashwin and Mishra. I'd like to see Mishra work extra hard on his fielding. B!tch cudn't catch a fly during the IPL:mad: bcoz mishraji doesn't believe in violence :hysterical:
Lord Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Mishra is best option, next is powar(if we r only looking at bowling for wickets).Ojha,Asjwin r also good options
saneindian Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 If you are looking for guile, fliht, loop and drift in a spinner, no one better than Powar (esp in ODIs) Is as bad a fielder as any other spinner/bowler but at least isn't afraid to keep tossing the ball up and keep attacking the batsmen. There will be days when he will get hit, but then there will be days when he will pick heaps of wickets and win us games. If only the rolly polly could cut down the flab by even 20-25%!!
diegovegaz Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Ashwin' date='Ojha,Mishra are the only ones we have...[/quote'] spot on :two_thumbs_up:

Gunner_Mania Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 do you have any odea how difficult it is to catch a fly ? :hysterical:
Pak_Fan_4_Eva Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Chawla looks the best bet right now. He just needs a bit of tweaking with his flight and placement. A session with the English spin bowling adviser would do him a world of good:winky:
Zelig Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 do you have any odea how difficult it is to catch a fly ? It's not that difficult at the Motera stadium:wink:
Ashrafool Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 you guys need an off breaker like me:two_thumbs_up:
imran666 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 none can match RAVINDER JADEJA ..if i was the indian captain i would give him first and last 5 over :winky:
