Sachinism Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 LOL! Party culture and what not after they were spotted in a bar! The funny thing is that it's coming from hardcore Modi and IPL supporters where players were forced to party late into the night after every game. And please don't give me the, 'No one forced them to'. People who bought the tickets for those parties for $1000 are not stupid to spend that amount of money to watch Modi's face and have a few Martinis. Some players of stature like Dhoni and Tendulkar would have been able to avoid them, but for pretty much everyone else it was mandatory. Thank you. Exactly what I was thinking :haha:

I'm certainly ashamed of the fact that IPL and Modi had spoiled the professionalism in players. I hope new IPL management think about the harm they are doing to Indian cricket and players and hope they do something constructive. Already the after match party policy has been removed. But IPL or not IPL, there is a group of players who will party. Nothing wrong as long as you don't lose focus and professionalism..
asterix Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 According to the manager of that Pub, the fans were Srilankans who were having a 'chat' with the Indian players..Nothing serious. The Lankan fans were WUMming Nehra about the last ball which he bowled and was despatched for a six by Kapugadha..
f2000560 Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 People are confusing two issues here : 1. Kirsten's report on unfit and/or players lacking work ethic. This is a legitimate point and argument and the BCCI and selectors should take action based on it. 2. Players going to a bar after getting knocked out of the tournament. Nothing wrong with that as they are flying back home and can decide to unwind the way they want. The only thing believable about the story is that the players were there and got heckled by Indian fans. Whether they were partying and enjoying or not, not that it should be anyone's concern in the first place, is most likely an add on from our superb media. agreed but surely excessive partying by force or voluntary is not good :dontknow: me think more than dhoni and sachin could have avoided it should they have seen reason to do so. of course there were complaints as well form sources but sure ly not all were averse to it.:dontknow: despite media sensationalism this report may not be that bad cause it could be the straw that breaks the camels back i doubt we are going to see another IPL party soon which might not be a bad thing at all $ 1000 :omg: we have some sad fans !
Three'sACrowd Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 It is hypocritical to slam the players for going to a pub/ drinking, even after this utterly gormless performance. They have a life outside of cricket. This fifth rate excuse for a media in India would have picked up on any incident to whip up a frenzy. And, as always, we fans respond emotionally. My contempt for the BCCI has increased, if possible - in a glorious exercise in CYA, BCCI is following suit by issuing notices, if the story is to be believed. However, while the pub incident in itself is immaterial IMO, what cannot be brushed off is that it seems to be a part of a now consistent pattern of behavior from this team: partying, lack of discipline, and in some cases arrogance. Much of which is confirmed by Kirsten's report and Dhoni's comments. That is the issue. I too am angry, but not at a pub incident. My anger is that the system itself has let fans down.

riya Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 What a load of bull crap, just because our spoilt brats went into a brawl, our coach should be sacked. Are these players elementary school kids to be directed. Meanwhile i don't trust this ''source''.we know how our media works.
riya Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 did i read everything right?:cantstop: Yeah to believe that Jadeja survived a brawl:omg::omg::omg:
Serani Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Indias "dominance" of cricket seems to be coming to a bitter end. Why would you sack Kirsten? Its laughable.

cricket786 Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Sorry' date=' but why exactly are we turning into PCB? - because a bunch of overpaid udnerpeforming players went out to party and got involved in a brawl after being dumped out of the tournament? The board hasn't sacked the coach for saying the truth are even indicated in that direction yet. That was your view of how things might unfold. How does that make the BCCI like the PCB.[/quote'] How come the BCCI suddenly starts bringing up a billion problems amidst the Indian team right after India got out of this ICC tournament? I find that pretty similar to the PCB. Also, in doing all of this, they try covering up their own flaws when their respective teams get the boot from some tournament or play awful during some series. it's not rocket science.

What problem? the BCCI hasn't brought up one problem let alone a billion. It is not our nature to call an inquiry by the board or some other body half way through a tournament and we don't go around banning our players for life only to revoke it tomorrow morning because we lost a tournament.

I don't give two cents about what the PCB has to say or do 90 percent of the time b/c most Pak fans know where they stand. but that's not even the point.. Point is now the BCCI will get involved, already has. Does it not appear to you that in all of this the players are getting defamed for off the field activities when there are other things that not the Indian players, but the BCCI is responsible for, yet I still have not read any criticism regarding that for now. Do you guys have no questions whatsoever about how this team was selected? Were all players selected based on form? That is when the board comes in. Also, I was reading this article where it stated how BCCI hasn't quite digested Dhoni's comments about the IPL/its late night parties being a reason for their early exit, and Dhoni is facing criticism from the board and former cricketers for bringing in excuses whereas the real problem is the team partying after international games, being unfit etc. What's interesting though, Dhoni does have a point there which the board fails to see. The IPL itself does have a billion after parties after every T20 match. which is why maybe these players can't help but follow that pattern for int'l matches as well, yet you'll still see the players ONLY getting blamed.

Like I posted in another thread, there is no sensationalism for the the media in criticising the selection policy or the board, the sensational news is only in criticising the players and nit picking their flaws. There is more masla in saying layers out partying after loss then say saying selectors picked wrong team. I understand what you are saying though. The flaw lies at the root, but nobody is going to point at it.

achilles Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 And achilles' date=' you really got to get off your high horse and stop abusing our cricketers. IPL scheduling and night parties is the single most reason for players' fatigue but of course Modi bhai can do no wrong in your eyes and ought to be drafted in ICC panel:two_thumbs_up:[/quote'] You got Piles??? Modi is to blame? Don't blame me for calling a spade, a spade. And its not called "high horse", its called "reality check". And if IPL is the reason for this, temme why the form of these players has only improved post-IPL, unlike our stars- Watson KP Warner Mahela Rest via PM. Thanks.
