The backlash against political correctness is to be expected. I would bet (and win) - if a non-Islamic girl or a Jewish girl of Indian origin had won it, conservatives would not have raised an eyebrow. You are right about one thing though - some of the reactions (like saying she's Hizbollah) are over-the-top.
