Laxman vs. Inzamam

Paks proclaim Inzi's triple against Bangladesh as the greatest innings then shamelessly call others score against Bdsh as minnow bashers(hypocrisy at its best).Can play underpressure,won't bother about records blah blah...Thats why he broke his bat in frustration that he couldn't break Miandad's runs.Never cares about record. Well to the topic Inzi was a very good batsman,but Anwar was better in 90s against better attack in their line up.Inzi did well in the last decade against lesser attacks.But I would take Laxman anyday for an abroad assignment.
That triple hundred was against New Zealand. The innings you are speaking of was played by him in 2003 against Bangladesh in the 4th innings of Test match. Pakistan would have sure fire lost that match if not for his century in the 4th innings. Imagine Pak losing a Test against Bangladesh, that would have been disgraceful.

ODI's are unpredictable, even Australia lost to Bangladesh in an ODI match in 2005. But losing a Test against a minnow team is beyond imagination.

Laxman is so overrated by Indian fans. He is poor man Ijaz Ahmed who also performed well just against Aussies. Laxman is lucky to have played in same era as Dravid & Tendulkar. He averaged in mid 40s despite poor fast bowling standared in 2000s & flat tracks . This shows his mediocrity and averageness. Inzimam have better average,more 100s, triple century, World Cup winner , one of great player under pressure and succeeded in ODIs unlike Laxman. Laxman never made into World test XI as well . Laxman is just good batsman and would never made into Pakistan team of Yousuf,Inzi & Younis. I rate Laxman alongside players like Sarwan & DeVilliers who averages the same as him.

:haha::haha::haha: Laxman averages more outside Asia than any Pakistani batsman ever. Laxman averages 50 as middle order batsman. Pakistan is a team full of flat track bully batsman. No Pakistani batsman can even dream of playing 281 like innings.

I never saw those innings. Must have been against weak bowling attack. Because Inzamam was all at see against good fast bowling.

Ijaz Ahmed averages 41 in Australia. That was not even when Australia was all conquering team. Laxman averages 54 in Australia. 15 innings Ejaz 7 times failed to cross single digits there.

Laxman only plays well against Australia, against others he sucks, Inzamam still can't be compared to Laxman, Inzamam can only be compared to Nayan Mongia who plays similar cricket lol

Ijaz Ahmed averaged about 30 add, Laxman averages almost 47. Inzamam averages 42 outside the sub-continent, while Laxman averages 48 outside the sub-continent. That tells us who is the one who got more benefit of flat tracks, Inzamam or Laxman. Apart from all these advantages, he also has the advantage of performing exceedingly well against Australia over Inzamam, who was pathetic against Australia and South Africa.
Inzimam have better average' date='more 100s, triple century [/quote'] Inzamam has a slightly better average, not be a huge margin. Also, Laxman came at number 6, while Inzamam batted mostly at number 4. And when Inzamam did bat below number 4, he scored lesser number of centuries than Laxman did. Inzamam has a triple century? Well guess what, Laxman has 281 vs Australia, which is the greatest Test innings of that decade.
World Cup winner ' date=' one of great player under pressure and succeeded in ODIs unlike Laxman.[/quote'] We have already accepted that Inzamam is better in ODI cricket. Even Pramodaya Wickramasinhe of Sri Lanka has a World Cup, what does that prove? Laxman has been just as good as Inzamam in terms of playing under pressure, if not better. There's no way Inzamam was ahead of him in this department in Test cricket.
Laxman never made into World test XI as well . Laxman is just good batsman and would never made into Pakistan team of Yousuf' date=Inzi & Younis.
:hysterical:Don't even take the name of Yousuf in the same sentence as Laxman. Yousuf averages below 30 against 3 Test playing nations, 2 among them being the top 2 bowling attacks of his time - Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka. He also averages below 35 in 4 Test playing nations. An epitome of a flat track bully. I won't say much about Younis though.
I rate Laxman alongside players like Sarwan & DeVilliers who averages the same as him.
:hysterical::hysterical: Tells me everything.

I consider you as a good poster but here i have a problem... You say laxman averages 48 outside sub continent and Inzi 42 : Difference = 6 Stats shows Laxman averages 47.38 and Inzi averages 42.98: Difference = 4.40... That's already makes a difference.... But i want you to tell me how 47.38 becomes 48 and 42.98 becomes 42??? The main Point is that you should look at Inzamam's record when he was representiing his country and not a joke team called "world XI", and then his outside sub-continent averages his 44.18(without zimbabwe)... So difference is just 2.80.... So i don't see why you are making a so big thing of boths stats outside the subcontinent??? Regarding Australia : I have no issue, Laxman played brilliantly against them and Inzamam played poorly agaisnt them... But then if it was the only way to judge a player, why are you not rating Laxman over rahul dravid??? Dravid's averages agaisnt the aussies is 41,33 with 2 centuries in50 innings....Average agaisnt south africa is 36,51... And again,hisaverage agaisnt australia, is all but due to more than 30 runs in ONE MATCH agaisnt thelike of Williams, McGILL, Bichel and Gillespie. Just to show that you should not think that it was agaisnt MC Grath and Warne... In matches involving McGrath Dravid's average is 31 overall over 12 test matches (at a strikerate of about 30), and 14 in australia over 4 test matches.... I think thatdravid isbetter than laxman,Inzi and many others, but thatwas just to show you that you can' t point Inzamam's poor stats agaisnt Aus and South Africa and say that every batsman is better than him... There is so huge difference between him and Laxman... As i already said,Laxman makesmost of his runs in DRAW matches,inwich hebatsat an average of 60... Inindian winshe hasan oaverage of JUST 50... And yes just 50 because you rarelly find someone with a lesser average in Wins. Just to compare Inzi averages 78 in winswith 17 hundreds, Dravid averages 67, Tendulkar averages 67, viru averages 61, Younis averages 67... And I cancontinue on... Inzamam is just too much ahead of VVS Laxman to compare them....

Lol i can show you far better innings than this played by Laxman.
Both of you were discussing about ODI's... That maybe are not Inzi's best innings but you asked about his match finishing qualities... But yes show me Laxman's better innings....
