Hur Rizvi Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 but one thing you have to accept, whatever you think, kapil is better fielder than Imran khan ?B-> Even if kapil was better fielder Imran was a better cricketer thats wat any one wid little bit of cricketing sense would accept
Lord Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 I think your mathematics is too weak TESTS Imran averages 37.40 KApil averages 31 If kapil is better why didnt he averaged more than imran difference of 6.40 is too much and u r talking rubbish because he played 43 more tests.that average is bound to come down Even in ODIs Imran averages 33.41 KApil 23.79 Nearly difference of 10 runs per inns ..... Rubbish Argument .....Imran was greater in batting kapil averages 23.79 Kapil Strike rate is far better
Hur Rizvi Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 because he played 43 more tests.that average is bound to come down Kapil Strike rate is far better kapil has S/R of 95 in odis he was a hitter in indian odi team Imran became a proper no 3 batsman as his career progressed ..... Even in 92 semi and final he was our no 3 batsman his S/R of 72.65 is very good for a middle order batsman and by averaging 23.79 wid S/R of 95 doesnt make him better than imran Even afridi averages 23.8 in odis wid S/R of 110.8
Hur Rizvi Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 because he played 43 more tests.that average is bound to come down Kapil Strike rate is far better Even after 88 tests Kapil averages 32.17 Imran averages 37.69 http://stats.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/30028.html?class=1;filter=advanced;orderby=default;spanmax1=19+mar+1987;spanval1=span;template=results;type=allround Still a difference of more than 5 runs ...B->

Sir john Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 our kapil won world cup in just 7 years of his carrers, your imran takes 22 years to win a world cup.B->

King Tendulkar Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 ^ Words and stats become irreleavant when you see the videos. Bedser would not make my club sides 3rd 11 let alone pak team. Sorry but that the brutal facts. Once again shows the folly of copmparing these bygone players to developed greats, they playd a totally differnet game back then. Also note the great covers , we have been told lies of uncovered wickets etc etc.
king2be98 Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 We can all laugh and joke about the skills of former players, but had those same players been playing today they would be much better than they were, they would have gone through rigorous traiining, had better facilities to improve their game. Let's take the best bowler in the world right now, Steyn (well in my opinion he's best), if he were bowling in the 40s, he would not have had the pace he does. He would not have worked out in the gym, didn't rigiourous army camp training and so would not have the upper body strength to bowl as quick as he can. Speed + swing = lethal. Swing + no speed speed = friendly bowling. Players don't lie, people don't lie about such things, if they play on uncovered wickets it means they did, it's just perhaps some of them that were covered, I will take the word of the likes of Richie Benaud as I believe him to be telling the truth. Covered or no covered wickets, averaging 99.94 is just outrageous. People often say Tendulkar would have averaged over 80 at the bare minimum if he played back then, well who's to say that Bradman wouldn't have averaged more than 100 if he was playing today? Alec Bedser looks like he had a slingy action, doesn't look like he's the quickest bowler, but we've seen a few bowlers with slingy actions and short run ups (Wasim + Tait) who can generate some serious pace too. All in all, I buy everything former greats say about former players, I just think modern players have a different approach and training which all in all improves their cricketing skill.
