Vinay Kumar out of tri-series due to injured knee

Vinay Kumar, the Indian seamer, has been ruled out of the ongoing tri-series in Zimbabwe after injuring his knee during practice prior to the game against Sri Lanka. He has been replaced by Karnataka team-mate, seamer Abhimanyu Mithun. Mithun, 20, had a fantastic debut domestic season, finishing as the leading wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy with 47 at 23.23. His effort helped Karnataka qualify for the Ranji Trophy final for the first time in 12 years - they were beaten by Mumbai - and was rewarded with a call-up to the national squad for the Tests against South Africa earlier in the year and an international debut in the ODIs that followed. Mithun was named in the India A squad for the tour of England in June, but will now head to Zimbabwe to fill in for Vinay. Mithun was also the recipient of the Border-Gavaskar Scholarship for 2010, which entitled him to a two-week training stint at Cricket Australia's Centre for Excellence.

So Sudeep Tyagi travels around the world with the team, plays 3-4 games in nearly an year and now he cant even make it to the team as a replacement bowler? Mithun does deserve hi spot, but IMO Tyagi should have been sent (in fact should have been in the intial team ahead of Pankaj Singh). Neverthless good chance for Mithun. Hope he grabs it.

Both Mithun and Tyagi should have been in the original squad given they were finding a place in Test/ODI squads over the last few months (SA, Bangla series) - don't know how Vinay, Dinda, Umesh and Pankaj all leapfrogged them.

Well we need variation in the attack. Both Umesh and Dinda provides you the pace and am amazed after todays performace how can someone question Dinda's inclusion in this squad. Currently no Indian bowler is bowling beter at the death than Dinda. He has slower ones, yorkers and offcourse pace unlike Tyagi and Mithun. Yes Tyagi could have made p in place of Vinay Kumar.

But when he played for India he was merely clocking 132-133. And Umesh and Dinda are 139-140 bowlers not 135-136.

yeah well you would find a couple here and there or maybe in 1 in every national team - very rare but at first class level we have an entire breed who bowl strict military medium and cant bat. ALL THESE GUYS STRICTLY IN THE 125-130 BRACKET. STRICTLY RIGHT ARM MEDIUM TRIVEDI KULKARNI YOMAHESH VINAY KUMAR GONY PANKAJ SINGH BALAJI - HE WAS FASTER ONCE... NOW HIS SLOWER DELIVERY IS HIS STOCK BALL JOGINDER HARMEET SINGH JASKARAN SINGH MUNAF PATEL - ONCE FAST NOW STRICTLY NEAR 128 - 130 THESE GUYS CAN MANAGE BATTING SHUKLA CAN SPANK A FEW BUT IS NOW MORE A BITS AND PIECES TYPE PRAVEEN CAN SPANK A FEW AND A GOOD SWING BOWLER RAJAT CAN MANAGE BATTING IRFAN PATHAN IS THE ONLY GENUINE ALLROUNDER P.S - this is not even the full list - i mentioned only those bowlers who play in the IPL. There are more who can bowl military medium and have no talent in batting at the first class level.

tyagi has more experience than mithun he should have been the choice
Wrong, tyagi has proved time and again that he has no talent in the musical chairs contest conducted by Cheeka before every new series. He always loses -- so he isnt selected. See rajinikanth songs might be a little confusing sometimes... but Tyagi needs to concentrate harder on musical chairs and he will definitely have a gr8 career as a pace bowler for india...
