Infact bangladesh dominated more sessions at lords than england...however the teams tendency to loose wicket in heaps has caused bangladesh to end up loosing convincingly.

Can you prove it?? 2 games, 2 loss, 2 follow ons,1 innings loss.....thats a lot of sessions won.. Infact just taking your 1st test performance into account, (just being lenient here since you lost the 2nd test by a freaking innings), England completely dominated the 1st 3 days, You might have won just 1 session when batting and another towards the tail of English innings when they had already crossed 400. You had another couple of good session with your top order and then it was back to normalcy as England won comfortably in the test that lasted just 4 days (363 overs) excluding rain interruptions. There was not one moment in the test that there was even a chance of BD winning. You seriously think that you gave England a good run? Seriously??? First BD has to stop losing by an innings every series. When was the last time they went a full series without losing a game by an innings against a proper test team? Then they have to stop losing and aim for draws. Then they have to win the occasional game. Only then we can say that they belong here. Since the test status, all they have improved is go from losing every game by an innings to losing every other game by an innings. That is some improvement.

Anyway, the message is 1st stop losing big then you can talk about losing small or running a team close.

anssrini Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Every now and then we hear Bangladesh improving but when the dust settles they are the same old side every time. Maybe they will genuinely improve in future. India was a poor test team until the seventies even though they had a test team since the 1930s. It does take several decades and generations of good players to become a good test team. For Bangladesh it might take another 10-15 years before they could seriously challenge top teams. If Tamim runs out of form, I dont see Bangladesh having any signs of a good test team in it.

Wi beat India in T20 WC and its domestic team went thro to the finals of the Champions trophy, not to mention the auction frenzy franchises go thro for Pollard and benn Infact, BD would be happy to get someone like Chanderpual to stoneblock india at every turn

They have Shakib - I rate him highly as a world class player. And recently they've had Tamim. To be a competitive international side, you need 4 world class players, not necessarily win, but not being thrashed day in and out. If Tamim can carry on his form and Bangladesh discover 2 more world class players in the next 3-4 years, they'll be a competitive unit.

It's only the top 3-4 sides which carry 9-10 world class players in their ranks, that can put in strong performances even when half of them don't perform. Teams like Pakistan, WI, NZ have 4-5 world class players and they put in a strong show when the majority of them click. Same will be the case for Bangladesh if they can get 2-3 more. They'll still lose, but not be humiliated one match and one series after another.

Yeh it does, so we keep hearing about how talented young Bangladesh players are but what happened at the U19 world cup? WI got to the semi final and had the highest run scorer, the future looks bright!
