Sachinism Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 OK I'm planning to do this (hopefully ) I need to work out how much it would cost overall. So was hoping some of the guys from India would be able to provide costs of traveling and match tickets (rough estimates) India's matches are a bit all over the place. I doubt it would be possible to go to all. We play Bangla in Bangladesh - Won't be going there vs England @ Kolkotta vs Ireland @ Bangalore - Would like to go here (crap game, but get to see Bangalore) vs Holland @ Delhi - Don't know if its worth it travelling to see India play Holland vs SA @ Nagpur - Must see vs WI @ Chennai To see all these group games would require way too much traveling, the best thing would be to stick to a certain part of India where a few games are not too far apart and then plan further for the QF, SF and Final depending on where India end up Also who else wants to make this WC?
SachDan Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Too early to plan. I'll decide sometime end of next year.
Gambit Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Good luck. If you need any specific info, ask me. I've sorted my tickets out for the final. If India don't make it, I won't go to Mumbai.
Sachinism Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 Are the match tickets already out? Well I was hoping on getting some info on what would be the best way to travel, taking cost and time into consideration.
Zelig Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Be there @ Chennai for India v. WI. We shall have a few laughs and make fun of Don S once Windies bite the dust.:yay:
kabira Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Chennai, Nagpur, Bangalore Kolkatta man thats bharat darshan. But you can use flights and book air tickets in advance. Possibily you will land in Mumbai, visit Mumbai, do some shopping go to Linking Road. Book not so expensive hotel to stay, don't tell anyone you are NRI, if you can speak hindi that will be good. Then take flight from Mumbai to Kolkatta, go day or two before the game, See the game if you must. wont be easy to get tickets for this. Then head to Bangalore, couple of days beforet he game, and stay put for 3-4 days, if you want to go and see nearby places go to Mysore, Ooty. Then head to Nagpur. I don't know if there is anything to see. Shirdi is close by. The stadium is superb. Then head to Chennai, enjoy the authentic south indian food. man I loved food there. If you can hook up with some local you will enjoy more.
Sachinism Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 I wanna see the games, that's the whole point of traveling all the way to India. Are tickets really gonna be that hard to get a hold of? I don't think I'll be traveling to all the places, cost of flights might be a bit too much, we can probably expect air fare prices to rise during that time
Ram Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Sachinism, If i am in chennai around that time, I'll shepherd you to the stadium and show ya 'round. :icflove:
Jersey #10 Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I ll be willing to spend upto 8-10k towards air fares. and that's if i go...

Temujin Khaghan Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I think if someone puts up the Indian Cricket Fans banner during one of the matches, that would be great.
Ram Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I'd love to visit Chennai. btw whats the weather like that time of the year? What time is the WC? April/May? Well, If Gordon Brown govt. thinks 33 degrees C and 60% humidity is called a ‘heat-wave’, I think you should come prepared for what you’d probably call a ‘blaze wave’… 40 degree and 85% humidity. We have propa’ summers down there mate, not the phony ones you fellas have north of the Tropic of Cancer or whatever. :D

kabira Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Sachism, if you book in advance, Air far price one way is very cheap something in the range of 2500 to 3000 Rs. Even less for some destination. and if thats expensive, there is indian rail, you can use 2AC compartments they are pretty good
