As i mentioned in my earlier posts' date=' Bowling has never been our strength. Batting was/is and will be in future unless we discover some very talented bowlers. That's not in our hands ATM. What's in our hands now? The batting line up. The lower order batting SUCKS!! We cannot win consistently depending upon the top order. Yes Top order will click more than often but a very crucial Batting PP is being taken around 45th over. And at that time more often we have one Bhikhari and a certain Posh Boy to screw it up..[/quote'] And who exactly are the Michael Bevans in the lower order waiting for a chance ? Lets look at the options Irfan Pathan- He will get bashed the day he comes back to the team and struggled to complete 5-6 overs bowling at 75-76 mph. Uthappa- Good as a batsman but weakens our bowling considerably Yusuf Pathan- Not reliable either as a bowler or as a batsman Ashwin- Looks handy with the bat and a decent off spinner but how wise is it to go in with 2 off spiners? Abhishek Nayar - Unproven as a batsman, very limited as a bowler. Who else is a contender?

In the present circumstances, even Piyush Chawla can bat decently (mind you we are talking about handling pressure in the batting. Jadeja shits in his pants). Chawla is also a bowling option. Can't believe I would suggest Chawla's name. During the IPL and T20 WC, I was dissing him. Yes, even Chawla can be a better replacement to this jelly legs Bhikhari. Our bowling sucks anyway. I just want to ensure that we don't screw up in batting..I can understand the POV that Bhikhari is decent fielder (he even dropped sitters during T20WC) and bowls decently. But that's small comfort. The fact is that Indian batting wins the matches most of the time..Don't want any screw ups lower down the order when the Captain and the Coach (how chewtiya Gary could be?) are adamant to take Batting PP between 45-50 overs..

Best Indian bowling i have seen from an Indian side was in 1985 benson hedges. Kapil, Binny, L Siva.. they were all genuine wicket takers. If not Kapil dev India definitely misses someone like Shastri, Manoj Prabakar (opened the bowling and batting), Robin Singh. That crucial no.7 spot needs to be filled asap.

India can not bowl: I have been hearing this ever since I started following cricket. This is said, usually without dispute, before every major series. It was said and was widely accepted before the 2001 Australia series when Kumble was not a part of the team. Every single cricket fan in the world took it for granted that India would lose because "Indian cant bowl". We won and we won spectacularly. It has been said before every major series. We have however won our share and we have gone on to become the no1 team in the world. We may not have great bowlers in our team, but as a unit they do deliver the goods when the times comes. Sometimes it's Bhajji, sometimes it's ZAK, sometimes it's Ishant, sometimes a part timer like Viru or Sachin. But our bowlers have won us tests enough to reach the no1 spot. Winning a test match is more about bowlers than batsmen. A team with bowlers who cant bowl does not reach no1 position.
See, what I was talking about? When the occasion comes, our bowlers can deliver.
