Cricket Nations like West Indies which can be made ?

One thing very unique to cricket is the concept of team of West Indies. Although not doing very now the team was a powerhouse at one time. West Indies is a combination of many small nations (15 to be precise including the dependencies). ICC can also try to promote a similar experiment in other parts (East Africa was another such team). These areas can be combination of very small nations who alone will not be able to field strong teams. For Eg one team can be (Many of these nations already have teams.) 1. Oceania:- a. Solomon Islands Solomon Islands b. Vanuatu Vanuatu c. Micronesia Federated States of Micronesia Kiribati Marshall Islands Nauru Northern Mariana Islands (USA) Palau d. Polynesia Cook Islands (NZ) Niue (NZ) Pitcairn Islands (UK) Samoa Tokelau (NZ) Tonga Tuvalu e. French Oceania New Caledonia (France) French Polynesia (France) Wallis and Futuna (France) f. Guam & American Samoa Guam (USA) American Samoa (USA) As said many of these nations already have teams. They also co-ordinate a lot amongst themselves in initiatives like Pacific Games in which cricket is also played. Just tried to make the team keeping in mind the geographical and political boundaries . Also Australia & NZ has a strong influence on all these nations. This can be used to influence a positive interest. Another possible team can be of 2. Indian Ocean a. Comoros b. Maldivies c. Mauritius d. Mayotte e. Reunion f. Seychelles Maldivies, Mauritius & Seychelles had previously a triangular tournament and were british colonies. Again Maldivies rather than having a team from 3 lakh people can actually combine with the strength. Such Island group have also a advantage of regional rivalry. I know still a fantasy at this stage but just a thought that came into my mind. . I guess I always believe in idea's flowing and putting them forward. I am not too negative like some people I encountered on my other threads who believe in shooting down all ideas saying that whatever is happening is the best possible thing . Just have an open mind guys

havent even heard of 80% of places listed in OP so not sure if they would be able to work together like WI does. Also any of the set formed above any good at cricket ? good idea though

I got an idea. You should nominate for the ICC president and once you get the job, you can execute all of these plans and ideas of yours. Until then all these things you are talking about are gone to waste with no potential in them.

Well, you create ideas constantly, don't you. Whether your ideas are practical or not is debatable, but at least you think different and always innovate. That in itself is an admirable quality and I am sure you will be rewarded adequately in future for the ability and desire innovative thinking.

Your idea is good... Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis are settled all over the world. If they play cricket in these countries ( I am sure they do) may be they could form a group , go to the country sports club and request to form a team, maybe field teams.... yea... it could be done yes... (theoretically) Nice idea dude... P.S you know... you could invent a nice cricket management game too using all these ideas... am sure you would profit from it. WHy dont you put in all your ideas in one huge article and send them over to cricket website one by one... if you are lucky you might get a response you know.

Why not just improve west indies, zimb, bangladesh, and the cricket of other associate nations like ireland, holland, afghanistan? How many countless minnows you want? Lets improve the little kids we have now

They had strong cricket roots in many of their countries so they had the facilities to practise whereever. They gonna practise in ocean in ocenia?

but general public showed little interest in cricket there. Which means organizing these teams and financing them is a waste of time. For eg: Tuvalu occasionaly plays against Kirbati. If that doesnt generate interest there, nothng will.

Combining 20 poor and weak teams is not going to generate even a 0.0000000000000000001% more interest since the net result of the games will be same. Waste of time and money of ICC, and the respective countries. Get it?
