Yeah thats a decent starting 11... both Vinay and Dinda would have to play to make 5 bowlers, Piyush can bat, but its a long tail. I dont know how good the part time bowlers are really...

Other than him, Mukund, Pujara, Rahane and Pandey all can roll their arm over if needed.

Emerging players set for action 27 July, 2010 Cricket Australia The annual Emerging Players Tournament gets underway in Brisbane next month and will showcase some of the best up and coming talent from some of the world’s leading cricket nations. Five years on since the inaugural competition in 2005 and the hosts are yet to claim the title after Karnataka (a state team from India) won the opening event, while South Africa took the honors in 2006 and 2007, New Zealand in 2008 and India last year. In 2010, the same four nations will be competing with emerging player teams from India, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia. The Australian team competes under the AIS banner as part of the AIS Scholarship Program conducted at the Centre of Excellence in Brisbane. This year, the AIS squad will be jointly led by COE batting coach David Fitzgerald and spin bowling coach John Davison, under the watchful eye of Greg Chappell. “The Emerging Players Tournament is a terrific way for our scholars to end their program and be part of some extremely competitive cricket in the lead-up to the Australian interstate season,” co-coach David Fitzgerald said. “This year we’re very lucky to have quite a large complement of players available for selection during the tournament, including some with international experience and those players will play a big role in continuing the development of the younger squad members. “To have players of the calibre of Callum Ferguson and Moises Henriques available to work with our younger squad members will be invaluable. “Under the guidance of Greg Chappell, the AIS Scholarship Program has taken a much more game-focused plan and the scholars have been lucky enough to have some good preparation recently, playing against the touring Mumbai Indians squad. “That gave them a good challenge and we’re looking forward to seeing what they learnt from that and some further improvement in the Emerging Players Tournament starting in a couple of weeks,” Fitzgerald said. In addition, the AIS squad will again include two MRF Pace Foundation players for the tournament continuing strong reciprocal relationship between the two academies. How I wish the India A team to play 4-5 first class matches on this tour vs Aus A or other A teams. With no domestic season going on, I am sure both India and Australia A teams are free right now and an A series would have been just perfect for both the sides.

Sorry, a bit late on this news, but this is how our emerging players have been preparing themselves for the tournament: Emerging Players’ prep camp kicks off Squad goes through the paces ahead of Aus tour Bangalore, July 22, DHNS: The pleasant weather was the ideal setting for the Australia-bound India Emerging Players’ squad to commence its week-long preparatory camp here at the National Cricket Academy facilities on Thursday. The Parthiv Patel-led 15-member group, which will take part in the August 6-19 Emerging Players’ tournament, went through its paces as former India player and coach Bharat Arun monitored the proceedings. Only medium pacer Jaidev Unadkat, who is assisting the Indian squad in the nets in Sri Lanka, was missing in action. The Saurashtra bowler is expected to join his team-mates on Friday. Cheteshwar Pujara, who led the ‘A’ side on England tour, will function as a deputy to Parthiv in a squad consisting of five pacemen, two spinners and eight batsmen. During their stint at the NCA, the squad, besides the regular practice sessions, will play a 50-over match followed by match simulation exercises and a T20 game before concluding their preparations on July 28. The annual event has played as a useful platform for the youngsters to stake their claim in the national side, Virat Kohli and S Badrinath being the beneficiaries of the last tournament. The tournament, spread over two weeks, will have two competitions - Twenty20 and 50-overs -- involving New Zealand, South Africa, India and hosts Australia. Indians are the defending champions in the 50-over category. How do players get to go to the NCA for rehab? Is it only guys who have played for India who can go? Nayyar and RPS for egs, havent played for the senior side recently...Or is anyone who is contracted or something...

Nayan Mongia said on Neo last night that Irfan Pathan is injured as well and that is the reason why he hasn't travelled to Kenya with the Baroda CA team for the tri series involving Baroda, Gujarat and Kenya. I wonder why Irfan, if he is injured, is not at NCA doing the rehab.

Vinay Kumar is an emerging player for limited overs cricket? We've seen what happened to him when he was given a chance' date=' haven't we? What part of his bowling were you impressed with and how do you think that this emerging bowler from India will serve Indian cricket in international matches?[/quote'] I was quite impressed with him. He bowled a tad short for the dead, slow pitches that the games were played on, but he showed experience which was evident from his well placed slower balls, yorkers and bouncers. 2 wickets in an ODI in which Dinda and Yadav got none as well as some steady T20I performances to suppliment his very successful IPL shows that we do have a talent on our hands. Moreover, at 26 years old, he is hardly past his prime either.

What about Netravalkar' date=' Sangwan?[/quote'] Sangwan really has faded after a strong first domestic season and Netravalkar hasn't even played any adult cricket yet. I hate to say it, because it is an overused point, but Netravalkar looks a bit slow for adult cricket, atm - he was bowling 120kph in the U19 WC and that really is pretty slow.

But Netravalkar was picking up wickets by the dozen at the WC. Maybe the speed guns were messed up? Even if the speed guns were accurate, he is still a kid. Hopefully he will stay on track, eat right, work out and gain some speed... ....sigh....I know I am being overly optimistic...who am I kidding? :((

He was getting a great deal of swing, but so were many bowlers in the U19 WC - I think conditions were heavily in his favour and will not always be like that for him. He did not look quick, at all - he reminds me actually of Ajitesh Argal who was Sangwan's more successful opening parter; he is currently on tour with Baroda or Gujarat, but has not played much FC or OD cricket at adult level up until this point.

Detailed scorecard isn't available even on CA's website but it was a two day match with AIS and don't know how much India scored in the 1st inning but gave them a target of 278 runs and bundled them out for 210, hence winning the match by 68 runs. Who made how much and who took how many is not known. They have a practice match today as well, with SA. Don't know how that is going.
