First proper 50 over pratice match was played yesterday and even though CA official site had enlisted it for live scorecard, I failed to find it even when the match was going on and now when the match has finished. But I have the report of the match and our batsmen have done done quite well again. Dhawan's ton guides India Emerging to easy win over SA New Delhi 06 August 2010 (New Delhi) Shikhar Dhawan scored a blazing century as India defeated South Africa comfortably by five wickets in a practice match ahead of the Emerging Players Tournament at the Sandgate University in Australia. Chasing South Africa's competitive 277 for seven, Dhawan used his long handle to great effect with a quickfire 112 that came off 88 balls, while Ajinkya Rahane (83 off 67) and Cheteshwar Pujara (63 off 52) gave him the perfect support from the other ends to take India home with more than 10 overs to spare. Earlier, South Africa rode on Colin Ingram's ton (130 off 133) and Davy Jacobs' (67 off 39) late pyrotechnics to post a competitive 277 for seven in 50 overs. The duo shared 116 runs for the seventh wicket to take South Africa beyond the 250-run mark. Fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat was the pick of the bowlers for India with figures of three for 30, while Umesh Yadav, Piyush Chawla and Dhawan scalped a wicket each. India, however, did not have the perfect start to their run chase as they lost opener Abhinav Mukund (1) in the fourth ball of the innings, caught by Jacobs off Basheer Walters. But Dhawan and Rahane then put on a match-winning 173-run stand to set the platform for a comfortable victory. Dhawan struck as many as nine fours and six sixes during his stay at the crease while Rahane decorated his innings with six boundaries and four sixes. Pujara too shone with the bat for India with a well-made 63 which was studded with seven fours and a six. The South African bowling attack cut a sorry figure yesterday, as they failed to pose any serious threat to the Indian batting line-up. Walters, Craig Alexander, Pierre Joubert and Daryn Smit shared the Indian wickets among themselves. ---------------------------------------------- I'll post the scorecard if I get it.

The 1st T20 match between India and AIS is going right now. Indians won the toss to bat first and are 129/3 in 14.4 overs. Pujara and Pandey are are at the crease!

Pujara goes, just as I submitted the reply. 15.3: Floros to Pujara, no run, OUT, clean hit out through cover however he has found the fielder who takes a juggling catch to remove Pujara No Unadkat in the team, by the way. This is how the other batsmen were dismissed: Over 9.2: Pattinson to Patel, no run, OUT, full in length, well timed down to mid off but good fielding from mid off manages to cover the ground to catch an important catch to remove the dangerous Patel Over 11.1: Pattinson to Rahane, no run, OUT, looking to drive big over cover has sliced a drive straight out to deep cover where a simple catch has been taken Over 12.3: Maxwell to Dhawan, no run, OUT, charging and completely mistimes that shot and spoons a high ball out to Dunk at cover who takes a regulation catch India's score : 168/4 (20 overs)

Australian Institute of Sport vs India India just won the match. No discussions? Manish Pandey, Shikhar Dhawan and Parthiv scored for us. Unadkat bowled well yet again picking up 3 wickets. Shikhar has waited too long for his short at the National cap. Jaidev & Manish have been aggressively knocking on the door and if they keep doing so, it might just fall out of the hinges. Kedar Jadhav is certainly going places. Not surprising coz he's got a great reputation in the state.

Dhawan has made a strong start to the tour and has continued his big hitting form which he found later during the tri series in England. If he's consistent enough, it wouldn't be long before he gets into the selector's radar very soon.

Wow... close one...well done to win lads. Aus were running away with it .. Some good bowling at the death by Yadav it seems Yes good to see Dhawan doing well. It is between him and Mukund as the additional backup opener, Dhawan wasnt so hot in the first class games in England and Mukund had a good tour. Perhaps in the medium term if he is to play for India, it would be as a ltd overs player.

Yeah, bit of a strange one. Its only because Gambhir is injured and Tiwary took his place with the seniors that Pandey is now with this squad. So effectively the selectors see Jadhav as ahead of Pandey in the pecking order. Not to mention ahead of someone like Rayudu. He's ok i think from what little I have seen in the IPL...but international class...?

IPL performances. His experience as the State captain and his decent performance with the bat helped his cause. But I'll keep Ambati Rayudu close.

Actually, I'm surprised to see Ajinkya Rahane making it to the XI, despite Robin Uthappa (assuming NDTV was right 2 months back that he's fit) and Ambati Rayudu being in the reckoning for an India cap. Abhishek Nayar deserved his place in this XI by being an all-rounder, if areas of strength are anything to go by.

Didn't you know that Uthappa was NOT selected for this tournament and he isn't fit fully even now? As it has been mentioned numerous times on this board, whenever the topic of Rayudu or Abu Nachim has been raised, that BCCI won't be selecting ex ICL players for any tournament for one full year, which they'll complete when this current season starts. They might be available from October onwards, if BCCI officials do not get another brain fit!
