Why not? We have had about 10 threads at times about MSD getting married, or various other inane topics - so what's wrong with a separate thread on this? PS: Nice... though as far as Ozzy songs go, I am partial to Perry Mason.

------------------ Also, to really appreciate the meaning of this song, consider the history behind it:

Although the song was written in the late 1990s, it was not considered for release until after the terrorist acts of September 11, 2001.Ozzy Osbourne compares "Dreamer" to John Lennon's hugely famous "Imagine", which contains the line: "You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one." Ozzy has said himself that The Beatles have had a huge influence on him (he first decided that his way of getting out of "that shithole" was through music after hearing Twist and shout). Ozzy can relate to them, as they are all successful musicians who grew up in underprivileged areas of England.[citation needed] Another reference to John Lennon is the line "After all, there's only just the two of us." This is an acknowledgment of the Beatles song "Two of Us."[citation needed] Although Paul McCartney wrote it to his wife Linda, it has since become accepted as a description of his relationship to close friend Lennon, and was even used as the title to a VH1 TV-movie about them.

Bheem, I know what you're trying to say but how can you compare English to Hindi songs ? Even as beautiful and soothing the melody is, for those that don't understand Hindi, the message is lost in translation.

Yes those songs are obviously for those who can understand both languages - which most here would - there is simply no way poetry like that can be written in English which is not designed for poetry. Its a shame that these cannot be translated to any other language without significant loss in translation.
I think English is a wonderful language for poetry. Each language has its own nuances, and so does English. n the end it is all subjective. For me, English is my first language. And so, I adore it and would enjoy poetry in English more than any other language.

:headshake: once a swami/desi ( southee/northy ) always a swami/desi :hehe: But on a serious note ... lemme give you a example ... try comming up with something as simple as "Babul ki aaye mohe yaad" in English ... there simply aint a equivalent to that in English IMO.
:hysterical::hysterical: I dunno what Bablu is doing :embarassed: Here's an excerpt from one of my faves: "...how she counted shadows around him to try and distract him from days of no thoughts." I think this pretty simple and yet elegant. Of course there is poetry that would sound great in one language and be lost in translation. I guess my appreciation for poetry is more allegorical and imagery-based rather than the flow of the words. That said, though I hardly have read any poetry or even books for that matter. I am more inclined to write them, and I daresay I find English very beautiful for expression.

Ozzy Osborne has a "prince of darkness" persona but in this song, showed a much softer, caring side. Also, if anyone thinks rock music is just head banging and screeching guitars and what not, you are very mistaken. Such a lovely song. Gives me a peaceful feeling. Sometimes you just have to sit down, turn on this song and look out the window and into the distance. Sometimes nothing else matters. :]

There are no words that can describe how beautifuly played this song is, and hom amazingly talented these guys are.
I am going to have this play with Unforgiven and Fade to Black before my fiance walks down the isle for our wedding........ This rocks.........
