SL has been hosting their home series in July for the past four years, if I remember correctly. So, really can't fault them. Btw their dry season is during the months of March-May (just like most of South-India), but with the IPL taking place at that time, there really is no other option but to play during the monsoon time and hope there are no interruptions.

Yeah, India's chances of winning from here are practically nothing. But a strong bowling comeback will boost them for the next matches. Sri Lanka still do have a decent chance of winning, provided there are no more major interruptions, till India are able to get past whatever the follow on target might be.

I was really looking forward to the series, it's test cricket after all - yeah if the rain continues to play a dampener it will be a bummer. But ever since the India-South Africa test at Calcutta, I've hardly watched 3-5 days of cricket live and was looking forward to this.

Slow outfield will ensure slower scoring rate hence SL will take longer before they declare in the case India fails to take 10 wickets for the first innings (which seems more than likely). My prediction: SL : Days 1 and 3 (six sessions) India : days 4 and 5(first session) SL: day 5 (second and third sessions) ---------Lame Draw--------- Even SL doesn't have a chance to get a result. India has four test batting "samrats" in the team hence I expect them to not crumble twice against a strictly OK SL bowling side.

One ordinary day in perfect batting conditions and supporters of the number 1 team are left begging for rain. Really, we are en excellent test match side. There is no reason we can't clean up Sri Lanka for less than 400. A lot of time has been taken out of the test, but matches at Galle can progress at breakneck speed towards the end. The pitch was assisting spin throughout the day and you could see the odd puff of dust coming out even after 50 overs on the pitch. If any team aims to play for a draw for the remaining 3 days, it could turn out to be a disaster for it, provided the weather stays away. India should look to build pressure on Sri Lanka and at least build a psychological advantage before the next test.

India only lost one test under dhoni and trust me thats a still record.

You can ignore the proceedings in Sri Lanka and then you won't have to bother about if there is rain there or not. You don't have to be part of the 'tedium'.

I am kinda happy it rained, I could sleep in peace without guilt knowing that there was no chance of a game and therefore no need to stay up all night Now hopefully the game is a dead rubber and we can look forward to SRT scoring some runs

Don't you forget that we are inside the Lankan fort at the moment. We will win the next two and seal the series. It will be slow but a smooth series win
