Sid Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Well,SL really had a good plan to give Sehwag singles and keep most of the fielders in the deep to deny him boundaries and also to ball wide of the off stump to lure him to go at those wide ones and fortunately for SL and unfortunately for us he obliged in both the innings and threw his wicket Wat you guys think?
thevortex Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I dont think Welegedara got deserving wickets - both times. The first one was a Sehwag indiscretion. Big time. The second one was pure brilliance from Jayawardene. Sehwag will play uppishly there. You have to be special to get him there.

putrevus Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 well where was our think then, their opener also scored majority of runs square of wicket what we do we leave gaps wide open and they cashed in big time.
thevortex Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 that is wat i am trying to say ' date='that indiscretion was brought about becoz he was not getting customary boundaries with that field setting[/quote'] I dont think so. He was still getting his boundaries and was getting runs at such a good rate.
gaurav92 Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 This is the way Veeru plays.Short and wide, he will go after it.On some occasions, h might look irresponsible, but i wont blame him coz thats his natural game, he will chase a ball in that zone and smash it hard.
ZodiaC Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I think those short and wide deliveries were intentional and there was always a fielder there for that upper cut.. So yes in the end worked pretty well for the lankans

You have to be special to get him there. we cant just say that.being an experienced bat,u hv to alter ur game acc. to the situation.i dont blame him for his 1st innings dismissal.but in the 2nd innings we were staring at defeat n needed batsmen to playlong n not flashy strokes.hes not there to entertain.hes there to win/save games for India. perhaps thats why he doesnt has that good record in 2nd innings.coz he cant control himself n change his game according to the needs of the team(except rare occasions like Adelaide Test)
kabira Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 nobody has been able to set any trap for Veeru LOL. He always finds ways to score runs.
