Aussies against Swing

All I have heard growing up that indian or sub continent player start *****ing at Green wicket or against swing. But to the contrary its Aussies who have terrible record against quality swing bowling, Be it Perth (Pathan and Co.), be it against Steyn, be it against Aamer and Co. Be it against Anderson. They really do not have technique except for Hussey to counter swing. So if someone in future refers Indians can't bat on bowling wicket, throw them this thread.

Times were different earlier; Langer was solid, Hayden had great hand-eye coordination, Ponting was in the form of his life, Martyn was technically brilliant and Gilchrist was the best counter attacker. As of now, only Langer has an equivalent in Katich while all the others are not of the same form or ability. TBH, Mcgrath/Gillespie/Lee/Warne would have destroyed Pakistan batting in no time as well and we wouldnt bother discussing the batting weaknesses.

Difference being that was a close contest against the #2 team (ranking wise i guess) then which England just about won. What we've been witnessing after the greats retired is complete misery.

Australia is in decline. Has been so for quite some time now. Things are not going to magically get better when Ponting and Hussey hang their boots. The Aussie bowling is perhaps at its lowest ebb. Bollinger is a good stock bowler. But when he tries bowling swing, he almost telegraphs things over to the batsman. That is not going to work. He works best as a seam bowler who can keep it tight. Hilfenhaus is far too limited a bowler. And Johnson does not have either the control or the variety required for taking wickets consistently at the highest level - in all parts of the world. I have seen very little of Steven Smith. He too seems happier defending than attacking and throwing the ball up in the air. Not a good initial sign for a a leg spinner of his type.

The 2 Australian users here hardly post on controversial issues. For balance sake, he should post it there too, so that we can know how they see the situation, the development. You see the frustrating thing I see is that when Australia have performed well people say how amazing the depth is.. then when they perform poorly its this whole "they are on the decline" thing.. I think it's pretty obvious that the side isn't as good as it used to be, but really its quite hard to expect it to be either! That team was filled with champions so when a good half a dozen of them retire at the same time its obviously not something which can be replaced overnight. They may never be replaced, who knows.. But I think Australia will always remain competitive, only time will tell if we can get back to those dominant days. I think when you compare the Australian side to that of other national sides, they are always in with a chance to win the match. That means that they can't be that bad when you still expect them to just about win every match.

My point was that against quality swing bolwing its not easy to bat. But I have never seen anyone lambast aussies on their lack of technique to play swinging ball.

Go watch the match. The ball was moving around all over the place and to add to it, the pitch wasn't as good as this one with uneven bounce. Everyone was criticizing Ganguly's decision to bat first.

Oh good grief. We get keyboard warriors here who probably just got into the game circa IPL I trying to discuss with people who actually saw the match, and what's considered one of the GREAT modern trench warfare innings.
