Tendulkar rested for tri-series. wtf?

Age doesnt matter for scoring runs,but age does matter for playing meaning less ODI's and straining your body and risking injury.

Agree and so completely do not understand why rest? It is hard to be in form but very easy to go out of form when a player plays no cricket.

What will he gain by playing in a tri series where the Kiwis will be without Vettori, Ryder and Mccullum? In fact Dhoni should also skip some of the matches and if he does that, even then we will still have a strong enough 11 fully capable of winning the cup. Sehwag©, DK, Kohli, Yuvraj, Rohit, Raina, Jadeja, Ashwin, PK, Nehra, Ishant/Mithun Good enough to go all the way.

His body needs rest, especially when he will be playing another marathon innings in the last test as other Maharathis like Dravid and VVS are just managing their usual averages to keep the fans in good humour.. So it's good that Sachin is not playing the Tri-series..

Come on, MI invested in him and hes the face of :mi: IPL/CL will sooner or later have the same importance as International cricket like it or not. I personally like it, but would rather separate windows for each so that they dont overlap.

The players made a commitment to their IPL franchises to play to the best of their abilities. To India, it is the 2011 WC and to Mumbai Indians, it is the IPL and champions trophy. It would be unprofessional to not to play in the Champions league. Besides i am sure Sachin sees this as a mumbai team rather than a Reliance team.

I think he knows best when he needs rest and when he doesn't. Dont forget that he sat out most of IPL1 because he needed rest.
