Well hes been tested against fast bowlers and he does a pretty good job of it. :rtfm: Im sure he would have handled easily with spin aswell. This is current btw. If it was all time, then it would be Gilchrist hand down. :hail:

his average is 51 compare to 35 of gilchrist .he won two icc odi player of year awards and gilly won non.soo stop wumming around.
It's not right to compare them based on their averages. Gilly was a utility player and was damn good at it. More often than not, he took the attack to the opposition, while MSD cashed in when the opposition was already on their back-foot (except for a few inns when he first started). In terms of contribution to the team's success, Gilly-daylight-MSD. BTW Inzi has an average of 40 in ODIs. Does it make him a better ODI batsman than Gilly? :hmmm: PS: I'm an MSD mark myself.

Dude Gilchrist was an opener and Dhoni a lower order batsmen, so he's more likely to get a better average. Also consider the bowlers faced by the two. And FFS awards mean NOTHING. Going by your logic Chanderpaul, MoYo>Lara and Tendy and Flintoff>Mcgrath and Warne :cantstop:

India never had a decent fast bowler so how can you say Dhoni is any good.

really??? after dhoni arrival india has won around 65% games. He has been no 1 in icc rankings for more than 70 weeks.i think u forgo the way he humilated pak bowlers.he is far more consistent than gilly. BTW Inzi has an average of 40 in ODIs. Does it make him a better ODI batsman than Gilly? :hmmm: he is close.but his sr is too low.dhoni sr is around 90 only 4 less than gilly.

Gilly's S/R is 97 over 287 games compared to Dhoni's 90 over 166 games.

Dhoni can inflate his average by scoring not outs, something which Dhoni loves doing.

You need ability to stay not out and scoring at a reasonable rate. Dhoni and Gilchrist Cant be Compared. But i dont rate Dhoni below Gilchrist. May be you are just jelous of brown nations . This is for Serani

Dhoni is a more complete batsman but Gilchrist was far more destructive.if I had to pick one opening partner for all time ODI XI with Sachin,i'll readily pick Gilly over the likes of Hayden,Jayasuriya n others.Gilly was the batsman i was most fearful of wen we used to play Aussies, nobody quite got me as worried as Gilly. n Gilly was better keeper of the two.it would be a very tough choice,u cant ignore Dhoni's 50+ average.especially wen it rises to 81 in won matches n a whopping 122 in successful chases.

Very Good Post saurabh. I am sure people like Serani would still be trolling on Dhonis Avg.

if u consider all Dhoni's not outs as outs, his average is still 38
