CG Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Guys. i was watching some highlights of mohali test between india and aus in 2008 ishant had upright seam and now its wobbling.while venky was coach there seemed to be a plan like bowlig cross seam with new ball and using slower balls in tests.Eric seems afraid due to lack of international rep.
Serani Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Poor Eric doesnt have much tools to work with, Ishant and Mithun, poor guy seems to have a nearly impossible job.
achilles Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 The problem with the Indian players is "ATTITUDE". No matter who we get as coach, it doesn't make a difference as long as the player himself bends his back and has the fight to improve by leaps and bounds. Look at Zaheer. His comeback after being discarded a few years back puts on display, the sheer tenacity of this guy. We need more and I'm sure the boys know it.
Lord Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Eric Simmons is useless.its 6 months now n i have never seen him work with a bowler or even talk to a bowler in pavillion.all i see is him reading a book or chatting with his mates Gary n Paddy with his hands behind his head.the other day I saw Gary giving tips to Ojha,i was like thi is Eric's job.i know hes a fast bowler, but he should be in a much better position to coach bowlers n nobody is asking questions off him.if it was an Indian,he'd been sacked by now. as for Venky,he was far better.he may not the greatest bowler, but certainly knew his job n how to get the best out of the players, few T20 failures n he was shown the door by BCCI:mad:

The team did a bad job in the big tournaments like the Twenty20 World Cup in England and the Champions Trophy in South Africa and although a touch harsh, they got the boot. This however has been the way Indian cricket administration has functioned. Lalchand Rajput saab got the boot after winning us the T20 World Cup, the first series win in Australia and a few more tournaments. The performance under Eric does raise questions but hey, the players need to wisen up too.
Zelig Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 It's very hard to measure a coach's capability. A case in point is that of Tom Moody. He did an excellent job with the Lankans. But after the 2007 WC, he relinquished his job and went home to coach his state team, Western Australia. Unfortunately, there was very little or no improvement at all in the overall performance of the side and he resigned last April. :dontknow:
Lord Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Venky was wonderful until the reason for his sacking became public ("reduce pace' date=' sustain career"). This however has been the way Indian cricket administration has functioned. Lalchand Rajput saab got the boot after winning us the T20 World Cup, the first series win in Australia and a few more tournaments exactly, that wouldnt have been the case with a gora The performance under Eric does raise questions but hey, the players need to wisen up too. apart from Zak n Bhajji, all r young, they need proper guidance,if they themselves need to sort out thier problems, then wat the heck is the coach there for?getting accolades wen things go right
achilles Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 exactly' date='that wouldnt have been the case with a gora[/quote'] I guess Greg Chappel might be the only exception. apart from Zak n Bhajji' date='all r young, they need proper guidance,if they themselves need to sort out thier problems, then wat the heck is the coach there for?getting accolades wen things go right[/quote'] They can provide the players all the theoretical knowledge the boys need. But then, its the players that play on the field.
The Outsider Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Some ICF reactions when Prasad was sacked : According to cricinfo....fired with immediate effect from their bowling and fielding coaching positions! great decision! finally! :yay::yay::yay: They did well till the tour of OZ but since then its been downhill. VP was hired to help the youngsters but they were bowling worse under him. I say hire McGrath :dd: of course that wasnt much..............finally bcci has woken up....hpe they get a gud coach now at least they wnt turn fast bolers into bowling ping pong balls.......all internationat pacers in last two years have gained pace.....our ones have lost?any reason for that??? i wanted this !!!!! it finally happens now :yay: We must have a poll on ICF about 'Who made the best choice this week?' and for once BCCI will get most of the votes for a positive move..Great decision! :yay::yay: BCCI should have sacked these 2 idiots long time back .. Prasad himself was a dabba coach .. His bowling was pathetic .. U guys can remember those days when jayasuriya and any other batsman treat him like a spinner .. Line and length my foot .. If u bowl at 120 wht's the use of line and length .. Regarding robin singh .. I really don't know how he managed to continue for so long ... Indian fielding has gone worse in recent years .. They drop catches .. they concede 2 runs where it should be one ... He was a part of team cos sachin liked him .. and he even got him selected for MI .. God save MI now .. See sachin's fitness also nowdays .. He is growing fat ..I know he is growing old and he will slow down .. But his overall fitness if going down fast .. The moment he score 60-70 runs u can see him cramping Who said they do not read ICF :secret: BTW it is the right decision. They were good players but the team has not improved since they started coaching. Bowling has been quite dismal after the coaching stint of Prasad. Hope we hire an excellent fast bowling coach as we need to increase the speed of fast bowlers immediately. If the speed of bowlers like Irfan Pathan, RP, Ishant, Zak, Nehra etc. can be again increased to their previous paces then we could have a deadly pace attack praise the lord... prasad is out robin was ok cant blame him for our poor fielders like munaf , nehra , ishant and the ageing brigade in sachin , dravid (stiil areasonable decision) prasad should have been kicked out long back .. all i saw after a year with him most bowlers lost speed and started bowling poorly. Time to get someone good :hatsoff: BCCI wat makes a good coach.. is how they groom the bowlers and how the bowler performs more than what certificate he has.. Zaheer was already inform gained frm his county exp when he back to the team.. thtsy he was selected... and if you see Ishant has gained immensely when zaheer was out there... so does tht tell you whos been guiding him.. when u read prasad's latest interview, he was talking crap.. i dont think hes good enough to coach an international team.... Whtz wrong with saffies, assuring u they ll give 100% like they r doing in IPL. Prasad is really good 4 nothing. I agree with you abt Donald criticism of Sreenath....but abt Prasad.... When was the last time when an Indian coach came out in the open with honest criticizm of Indian players..... Thats why we shdnt have Indians as Coaches... Its all good when things are going well but when the need comes to put the foot down in the best interest of the team we Indians are very incompetent. Its a cultural thing..... Losing Prasad has been the biggest blow to Indian cricket over the last year. All on the basis of a freaking T20 WC where it was our batsmen who couldn't score off the short ball.
Lord Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I guess Greg Chappel might be the only exception. how many tournaments did we win under Greg?yet he stayed for 2 yrs despite all the controversies.hell,BCCI supported him over Dada They can provide the players all the theoretical knowledge the boys need. But then, its the players that play on the field. no,its not the theoretical knowledge only.they have to work with them in the nets, ensuring that thier basics r right n they r doing okay.in all the footage of net sessions i've seen,Simmons is nowhere to be seen. I remember they showed Ishant practising bowling in the nets, even there he was going 2 feet over the line,no wonder he bowls it in the matches n there was nobody to tell him about that

CG Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 atleast prasad wae international test cricketer who had exp on flat tracks and good rapport with younsters.simmons is just for money.he is afraid if he tells indianbowlers how to bowl they might question his own ability. @serani i am not talking about indian bowlers who have been bowling on roads for 2yrs just because tv broadcasters want the game to last 5 days.they have still performed well on roads unlike english STBS
Serani Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 England have about 10 bowlers better than all Indian ones.
jusarrived Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Prasad was treated really bad , cant believe we got rid of him when our bowlers wer doing very well ..he was a very smart bowler & was perfect for a bowling coach .
jusarrived Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 England have about 10 bowlers better than all Indian ones. who asked you about england here ?
Serani Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 who asked you about england here ? Cricket god called englands bowlers "STBS" Well atleast they can get above 80MPH.
jusarrived Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Cricket god called englands bowlers "STBS" Well atleast they can get above 80MPH. ok :--D 80mps on those faulty speed guns ? sure why not :giggle:
Serani Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I do believe they are actually fine now because Mohammad Asif was bowling at around the 80 MPH mark that he always does with Aamer and Gul in the mid 80's. And I doubt that SKY quickly swap speed guns in between innings to make england bowlers look faster than they are.
Online Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Eric Simmons is useless.its 6 months now n i have never seen him work with a bowler or even talk to a bowler in pavillion. umm...benefit of doubt? maybe he is working with them in the nets? all i see is him reading a book or chatting with his mates Gary n Paddy with his hands behind his head. you only see him when the tv shows him. the other day I saw Gary giving tips to Ojha,i was like thi is Eric's job.i know hes a fast bowler, but he should be in a much better position to coach bowlers lol so since Eric is the bowling coach, Gary should not give tips to the bowlers! very interesting. n nobody is asking questions off him.if it was an Indian,he'd been sacked by now. haha do u consider yourself a nobody?
achilles Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 @ Swetabh.... Prasad was good while he lasted. The problem is his "reported" advice which was very controversial to say the least. And he was presumably sacked primarily for the poor performance of the bowlers in the WT20s in England and the Champions Trophy. how many tournaments did we win under Greg?yet he stayed for 2 yrs despite all the controversies.hell' date='BCCI supported him over Dada[/quote'] A series I fondly remember us winning, among many, was the LEGENDARY series vs Sri Lanka that we won 6-1. no,its not the theoretical knowledge only.they have to work with them in the nets, ensuring that thier basics r right n they r doing okay.in all the footage of net sessions i've seen,Simmons is nowhere to be seen. I remember they showed Ishant practising bowling in the nets, even there he was going 2 feet over the line,no wonder he bowls it in the matches n there was nobody to tell him about that There are two possibilities- One, that Eric does his job silently, away from the media's glare and two, he's not doing his job properly.
