aamir anytime
What based on his performances against england:hysterical: Even Pathan could rock up on these seaming paradises and do damage. Let him to do stellar performances on non dreamy tracks then we can talk!

I'm sure you know about the Pakistani fielding. Trust me he's bowled a lot better than those stats suggest
sure, but he also had favourable conditions.hes yet to bowl on pattas of India,Pak or Windies.even SL gave them helpful tracks while they were there.Kulasakera was MoS then

Yeh true' date=' but watching him bowl, you see he knows what he's doing, keeps it good areas[/quote'] thats because hes getting the help from the wicket, only wen gets thrashed on pattas will he need to try something else,we'll see how he does then

Steyn,he proved his worth in all pitches plus longevity.Aamir will struggle against Indian line up in Indian pitches so is Asif.

a cocaine free asif is probably the most prodigiously skillful bowler going around. he does stuff with the ball which even the past greats have no clue about.

That was funny :) Steyn is more of a metronome, I am afraid. He is not going to be praised by anybody for his versatility. What he does need to be praised for is his consistency and strength of mind and body. And pace of course.
Metronome? wtf? Steyn is probably the fast bowler who cares least about accuracy. He regularly gets hit for more than 4 an over even when he's bowling well. And not praised for versatility? Which planet are you on? Here's the only bowler in the world atm who can bowl an entire spell full of searing bouncers to top batsmen or swing the ball both ways in the same over like he did to dismiss M Vijay in Nagpur or hit the deck hard on dead wickets not to mention how deadly he is with the old ball. Of course there are bowlers who can do one of these things quite well but not all of them..

He is one of the most accurate out and out fast bowlers I have seen. Very rarely does he ever stray down the legside. Thats because of his unique wrist load up and release which imparts venomous and prodigious outswing to the new ball. And when the ball is old, this same action gets the ball to tail in. And yes, to put the eight ball back on you - you think he is inaccurate? He is extremely accurate for his pace. You think an entire spell of bouncers speaks for versatility?! Steyn swings the ball both ways? Now that would be the day, fbm!! :) He bowls out swing with the new ball and as with many such practitioners brings it in when he bowls full, fast and straight with the older one. Thats about it. Precisely due to his wrist load-up and release, an inswinger is very very difficult if not impossible for him to bowl. What he manages from time to time is an off cutter. It is still deadly at the pace he bowls at. However, the matter still stays that he is not somebody who can bowl regular in swingers regularly. Aamer on the other hand is far more versatile. Not to mention that his left handedness adds its own little twist to the tale.

Why in the world not? He is vastly underrated as a bowler. He is among the best fast bowlers going around today. Whether that reflects the overall quality of the fast bowlers is something we have to think deeply about. But there is no denying that he is a quality fast bowler.

Anderson is home bully. As other poster said a nocturnal english bowler. At hom in dreamy seamy conditions is great. Away from home with places were sun shines then poor. As shown by awful average away from home of mid 40s! If our pacers bowled in england they would look awesome to. As shown by our last tour of england were ZK and RP raped the english batters!

Correct. He's like the Harbhajan Singh of swing bowling. Having said that, he has single handedly won matches in conditions that suit him so hes got to be in the mix..

I am sorry but I dont understand or agree with using statistics as a way of praising or damning a player. It can be a guiding light, sure. But in itself it cannot pass judgment. At least that is my line of thinking. Anderson leads the English attack. The English attack is probably the 2nd best pace attack in the world today. What does that say about Anderson's quality? Contrary to his figures I have always enjoyed Anderson's bowling even against Tendulkar at home. He is a good fast bowler. No doubt about it. Plus he is another of those rare bowlers who can swing the ball both ways at decent pace. Would India or Australia think twice about inviting him to play for their teams? I think not :).
