saneindian Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 A lot of joke nominations from Australia and that shouldn't surprise anyone one bit. One bad year from Gautam Gambhir and he's out of the list, while- Ricky Ponting & Morne Morkel are nominated for the "Cricketer of the Year" award. Simon Katich for "Test Player of the Year". Ryan Harris for "Cricketer & ODI player of the year". Cameron White for "ODI player of the year". Doug Bollinger in all 3 categories. What kind of a sick joke is this? And Where is Graeme Swann? Why do we even call the ICC Awards? Why not call it the "Australian Cricket Awards"? Anyways, here's my list- Cricketer of the Year Hashim Amla (SA)/ MS Dhoni (Ind) Test Player of the Year Hashim Amla (SA) ... this is a no-brainer ODI Player of the Year Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Ind) Emerging Player of the Year Mohammad Amir (Pak) Associate and Affiliate Player of the Year Mohammad Shahzad (Afg) Twenty20 International Performance of the Year Michael Hussey (Aus) - 60 not out (24b, 3x4, 5x6) v Pakistan, St Lucia, 14 May 2010 Women's Cricketer of the Year (Anyone of the Pom women) Umpire of the Year Rudi Koertzen How about Sehwag's nomination in the ODI player and cricketer of the year category? They showed a stat in the last match, Sehwag had gone some 12-13 innings without a 50 and his avergae in those innings was well under 24!! Tests he has been awesome and will probably win the test cricketer of the year. An aggregate of nearly 1300 runs at an avergae of 85-86 at that strike rate!! No one comes close. ODIs, it will be between Dhoni, Sachin and Watson, with Watson the likely winner, has scored some 1300 runs and taken nearly 50 wickets! Cricketer of the year: Sachin, no one has been as good as him in both tests and ODIs. Emerging player- Aamir deserves it.
King Tendulkar Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Cricketer of the year- Tendulkar Test Cricketer of the year - Tendulkar Odi player of the year - Tendulkar Anything less then that will be a travesty of justice.
King Tendulkar Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 where is Afridi' date=' Legend of Legends?[/quote'] :--D
Gunner_Mania Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Swann snubbed for top award England spinner Graeme Swann is a surprise omission from the International Cricket Council's long-list for their Cricketer of the Year prize. A total of eight players are each up for three awards at the annual ceremony, but no England player is in consideration for the top honour. Hashim Amla and Jacques Kallis from South Africa, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag from India, Shane Watson and Doug Bollinger from Australia and Sri Lanka's Mahela Jayawardene are the men who feature in the Test, ODI and player of the year categories. Swann, who signed a new two-year deal with Nottinghamshire on Wednesday, might feel aggrieved not to be among the 16-strong contenders for the top gong, having taken 49 Test wickets at 27.55 and 28 one-day wickets at 23 in the qualification period. The off-spinner, currently ranked number three in the world, is on the Test long-list alongside James Anderson, while team-mates Eoin Morgan, Steven Finn and Tim Bresnan are all up for the Emerging Player award. Ireland batsman Paul Stirling is also in the running for that title, and is joined on the Associate Player of the Year list by compatriots Trent Johnston and Kevin O'Brien and Scotland's Richie Berrington and Mudassar Bukhari. Shortlists for each award will be produced before the ceremony on October 6 in Bengaluru, India http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12341_6320528,00.html
Ravi. Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Simon Katich deserves. His record is fantastic in last one year.

Matty). Its a shame that Ryan Harris has made it to the list and Swann hasn't.
zubinpepsi Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 huh.. what has ricky ponting done to be in the nominations for cricketer of the year and ODI player of the year???
ensd2 Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Cricketer of the year. : Sachin (by far) odi : AB devillIers Test : sachin / sehwag / sanga /swann / alma / katich / tamim emerging player : Aamer
ensd2 Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Is this a joke? VETTORI!?!? How about a prize for mediocre cricketer of the year im sure Vettori will win that. Mitchell johson has been pathetic ...
Asim Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Ravindra jadeja edged him out in the emerging players' category. Oohh right, they should introduce then "emerging player of the century", only he will win this...
Duckworth&Lewis Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Dhoni for test player of the year award?? :haha: The guy can't even dug out a predictable yoker for his team's sake. :hysterical: This T20 performance of the year thing is really meaningless. Now T20 is being one of the major format in the game, can't they have a best T20 player of the year award? :dontknow:
Zap_Brannigan Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Seeing the stats, Test batting - Sachin or Sehwag . Will give it to Sehwag, the guy has over 1000 runs, 85 avg at a SR of nearly 100. ODI batting - Lots of candidates. AB, Sachin, kallis, Amla, Dilshan,Dhoni but it comes down to AB Vs Sachin. Sachin got a 200 and a 175 against Aus chasing 350. So Sachin it is. Overall - Obviously the only batsman to be among the best in both formats. Sachin.
achilles Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 huh.. what has ricky ponting done to be in the nominations for cricketer of the year and ODI player of the year??? Arre, babbbaaa. If Ryan Harris can be there, why not Punter? Don't you know how good Punter has been? He's scored (maybe) TWWWWWWWWOOOOOOO centuries during the gestation period. Oohh right' date=' they should introduce then "emerging player of the century", only he will win this...[/quote'] Did anyone poke fun at the Pakistani players here? No. Dhoni for test player of the year award?? :haha: The guy can't even dug out a predictable yoker for his team's sake. :hysterical: And what is Samaraweera doing here?

This is the list of leading run scorers in tests during the review period (24th Aug 2009 to 19th Aug 2010) http://stats.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;spanmax1=10+Aug+2010;spanmin1=24+aug+2009;spanval1=span;template=results;type=batting Viru is far ahead of everyone with only Sachin close to him. He is the sureshot winner of this.
Chandan Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Put the stats of bowlers in tests for the same period and then the ODI stats for batsmen and bowlers for this period too, please....
Zap_Brannigan Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Dhoni for test player of the year award?? :haha: The guy can't even dug out a predictable yoker for his team's sake. :hysterical: Hello troll!! FYFI, Dhoni averages 66 in tests during that period, wicketkeeps and captains the #1 team in the world!! Maybe if there is a category for whinging, Sanga the whinga can win!!
Duckworth&Lewis Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 And what is Samaraweera doing here? Oh c'mon Sami has done well in test. When u looking at some of the names in the list, even his last performance with the bat (3rd test against India) is good enough for the nomination. :two_thumbs_up:
