Serani Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 So people, Prior and Dhoni are two excellent specimens of keepers but who do you think is better? Prior has played 33 tests averaging 41.5 with 3 hundreds and 14 50's [thats not counting this test with his 84*] Dhoni has played 41 tests and has a similar average to prior [41.9] with 4 hundreds and 18 50's Personally I would back prior, has a superior record if you consider he bats in more difficult conditions in England and is also consistent under pressure. Serani Posted August 19, 2010 Author Posted August 19, 2010 Another thing thats important..Who is the better KEEPER. Its all good being able to bat but if you drop the ball then your hindering your side, personally I think both have improved a lot since there debuts and are now very solid behind the stumps.
Shane Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Prior is a joke of a wk in subcontinental conditions, MSD is more of a complete cricketer, with his role as a captain. So, its MSD by some distance.
saneindian Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Serani, do you like Prior becase he has scored almost halg his career runs against the mighty West Indies?
Serani Posted August 19, 2010 Author Posted August 19, 2010 Prior is a joke of a wk in subcontinental conditions, MSD is more of a complete cricketer, with his role as a captain. So, its MSD by some distance. Prior is a better keeper now, after the WI tour he was gonna get replaced because his keeping was terrible, now its solid.
ZodiaC Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Only as a batsman, I'd say Prior, overall, Dhoni.
Lord Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Only as a batsman' date=' I'd say Prior, overall, Dhoni.[/quote'] +++
Fontaine Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 When healthy I would take Dhoni. Now that Dhoni is playing injured, I would take Prior.
Sir john Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 dhioni score most runs when bowler get exhaust:haha:

Andy Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 those are not important innings' date=':finger:[/quote'] Then what is? :dontknow:
The Outsider Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Prior is a clown with the gloves, in the league of Akmal. So as a wicketkeeper-batsman, the choice is clearly Dhoni. As a pure batsman, Prior comes out on top in tests.
Serani Posted August 19, 2010 Author Posted August 19, 2010 Looks like people havent watched prior keep since the tour of india :giggle:
Serani Posted August 19, 2010 Author Posted August 19, 2010 Then what is? :dontknow: Some of them arent, like the 50 at Ahmedabad vs SA, he failed in the first innings when the pressure was on, scoring 50 in a lost cause is no great feat.
Sir john Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Looks like people havent watched prior keep since the tour of india :giggle: iam his fan,watches his each innings. he bats very well against lankans in lanka.:--D
Andy Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Some of them arent' date=' like the 50 at Ahmedabad vs SA, [b']he failed in the first innings when the pressure was on, scoring 50 in a lost cause is no great feat. Pressure was more in the 2nd Innings. Prior has failed many times when the pressure was on. And as i said Prior score most of his Runs at home and against fewer oppositions.
