I have never seen it No, timed out and hitting the ball twice have never happened in a test match. Obstructing the field has happened once(IIRC, Hutton) and handling the ball on a few occasions. I am sure it has happened in FC cricket, but don't know the match/player involved.

DomainK Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Thats one decision that would take some serious reason for an umpire to make. If a player really gets late, the umpires would rather wait for a while than give him out.

suraj Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 India almost had the honors when neither sachin nor laxman was ready to come out to bat after a dismissal - the umpire told the captain he will not give out even if there is an appeal because sachin was not informed that he cannot come ( abscence from field while fielding) and laxman thought sachin would be next - eventually ganguly came after a 10 min wait.

The timed out was introduced in the 1980 code of laws. Therefore there are none from the era on the great Lohmann. There was a famous incident from 1919 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Heygate#The_Heygate_Incident_of_1919 ) where the batsman would have been timed out as per modern laws. Four batsmen have been timed out in first class since the introduction of the law.

Regarding obstructing the field, Ravi Shastri was so lucky not to be given out when he "body checked" Defreitas as he was running towards the stumps to take his catch, in the 1992 WC league game. Defreitas dropped it, but he managed to throw down the stumps and Shastri was out, run out. There was a similar incident in a T20 match, WI vs SA. Pollard dropped the ball and attempted a quick single. Steyn, the bowler, was quick on his feet and he was there in a flash. But big KP blocked his attempt to field it. Infact, it looked more than a block..it looked as if KP55 was gonna tackle Steyn, rugby style lol. Anyway, KP got away with it, but got out in the very next over and was rightly fined for his conduct.

Andrew Jordaan - Eastern Province v Transvaal at Port Elizabeth in 1987–88[3] 3. Hemulal Yadav - Tripura v Orissa at Cuttack in 1997 4. Vasbert Drakes - Border v Free State at East London in 2002 5. We literally wanted him to throw his wicket. He was eating up balls. We lost both the games closely I think 8 runs and 1 run. If we had won those two games we would have been in Semis
