What rep ranges do you guys use for the main lifts? Is it fine if I do low reps for major lifts to improve strength quick and maybe do 10 reps for smaller isolation exercises to make up for it? Alot of people I see do high reps for everything, does it slow strength gains. Also my bench is stuck at 85kg for 5 reps, for last month and a bit (even longer I think). How can I break this? Other lifts are fine, what do you guys do when you get stuck? Basically I got up to 85, I stopped due to alot of school work for a month and a bit, started from 70ish, quickly back to 85 and have been stuck since

ok, trying to get this thread back on track: I seem to be stuck with a two pack, and only if I really squeeze hard! Currently I am doing Stronglifts 5x5 (5x5 Squats, Bench, Deadlift, then on day 2 Squats, Military Press, Bent over Row) 3 days a week. I take it easy on the other days, usually going for some light swimming, or shooting hoops by myself. I wanted to lower my body fat percentage, I believe it's about 15% right now. I need to get it below 10. So: 1) What is a realistic timeline for that kind of fat loss? 2) Is my current routine ok? I will be subbing one day for more dynamic exercises (GPP -> tire flips, farmer's walk etc.) 3) What improvements can I make to my diet? Here is pretty much what I eat everyday: Breakfast -> 8:30 1) Two Scrambled Eggs (whole) 2) Oatmeal (no added sugar) with milk 3) 1 Banana 4) 4 Spoons of nuts, walnuts, peanuts, sesame and pumpkin seeds Snack -> 11:00 1) 150g of Cottage Cheese and an Apple Lunch -> This could be varied, maybe some pasta, Quinoa Khichdi, burritos (homemade), or eating out Snack -> 2:00 PM Trail mix of more nuts, peanuts, seeds (about 4 more spoons) Generally workout between 5 and 6, come home at 6:30 Protein Shake (Homemade) 1) Frozen mixed berries with 1/3 cup Greek Yogurt, 1/2 cup milk Dinner around 8: 1) Dal, Sabzi, Spinach (raw) with some banana peppers, and 4 rotis. At night time I take a big glass of milk and then after an hour go to bed. Any suggestions guys?

Body fat isn't too bad.Whats your height and weight ? You need to definitely have variation in your food habits as well as workout. Also need to do more cardio and interval training. Perhaps you want to change your diet a bit.Research has shown that the body does get used to the same diet and that can be one of the contributors to a plateau.I had hit a plateau as well but then mixed it up a bit.Basically shock your body as much as you can and engage the twitch fibers to rip them more. Also add Whey, protein intake seems to be low. Is the milk skimmed? Is the Greek yoghurt fat free? As I said mix it up all the time.Hope it helps!

Shehezaada, what I would suggest is that you workout exactly the amount of calories you eat in a day. You can do this by checking the back of the product, every gram of protein and carbs= 4 cals every gram of fat= 9cal. It is suggested you keep your calories something like 40% carbs 35% protein and 25%fat. You then need to figure out your metabolism (how many you burn in a day). There are calculators online which can provide rough estimates but you can try yourself. Say you eat 2000 cals in a day and lose about .3-.5kg in a week that is ideal rate for weight loss. If you want to bulk up then eat 3000 for same rate of weight gain. This would mean your maintainence calories are 2500 (the amount you burn in a day) and you can work from there. Also look up a keto diet heard it's good for cutting

Thanks guys! Height is 5 '9, weight is 165. I'll definitely try your suggestions out. For 5% body fat loss, what do you think is a realistic goal? Milk is 2% or homo, and the Greek Yogurt isn't fat free...but I've heard plenty of things about these fat free solutions and the preservatives and other crap they put into it to make it fat free and it's not the greatest for you.

Guys. I met a family who follows following diet(GM Diiet) once every year. Its one week diet. And throughtout the week you dont feel hungry. Still loose about 4 Kgs in that week. Just in case anyone is interested. Theyare vegetarian, so dont eat anything nonveg from the list.

Day One All fruits except bananas. Your first day will consist of all the fruits you want. It is strongly suggested that you consume lots of melons the first day. Especially watermelon and a loupe. If you limit your fruit consumption to melons, your chances of losing three lbs. on first day are very good. Day Two All vegetables. You are encouraged to eat until you are stuffed with all the raw or cooked vegetables of your choice. There is no limit on the amount or type. For your complex carbohydrate, you will start day two with a large baked potato for breakfast. You may top the potato with one pat of butter. Day Three A mixture of fruits and vegetables of your choice. Any amount, any quantity. No bananas yet. No potatoes today. Day Four Bananas and milk. Today you will eat as many as eight bananas and drink three glasses of milk. This will be combined with the special soup which may be eaten in limited quantities. Day Five Today is feast day. You will eat beef and tomatoes. Eat two 10 oz. portions of lean beef. Hamburger is OK. Combine this with six whole tomatoes. On day five you must increase your water intake by one quart. This is to cleanse your system of the uric acid you will be producing. Day Six Beef and vegetables. Today you may eat an unlimited amount of beef and vegetables. Eat to your hearts content. Day Seven Today your food intake will consist of brown rice, fruit juices and all the vegetables you care to consume.
