sudheer kumar Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 How many players in Team India showing their aggression in the match? Why they are so much calm even opposite players provoking them? We don't want more aggression which sreeshanth shows in past. But we need it sometimes. Praveen kumar's eye contact against batsment shows some aggression. That much is enough in match. I think Harbhajan,Zaheer,Gambhir are the key players to show their aggression. They are not in Ind-SL-NZ tri-series. If they are in match against Srilanka they may show their aggression directly against umpire's decisions. Team India need to show some aggression on field to face some challenges.

I think somebody is controlling him from aggression.

vamos_rafa Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I dont think i would agree to what has been said in the post till now... aggression is not about doing wild things, taking the whole world on and abusing people around... its about playing at the best of your abilities and yest being competitive in a way so that the opposition does not intimate you... I think sachin and kumble have been the prime examples of this... just looking at kumble in particular... he was a spin bowler alright but he had the spriit of a roaring fast bolwer yet he never crossed the line in terms of his actions.... and the same can be said about sachin.... i think dhoni also falls under the same category.... the fact that he his team has lost meekly may make us feel otherwise but within his calm demeanour there's a steely resolve which is needed.... Sreesanth and all are mere jokers..... who tend to lose their focus when doing the clown acts.... and I must tell you that I am a huge fan of dada's captaincy as well..... but to say that we need to start acting like wild dogs is something i would not agree with....

Dhoni doesnt know the meaning of the word, under Ganguly when the going got tough he came out vocally encoraging players and showing grit, dhoni is the opposite, he takes whats thrown at him lying down, and some of our players especially bhajji need something to wake them up then they become world class. You might say tht players shud already be motivated, but its not abt that, its about the overal team attitude.

Like for eg if you look at Steve waugh's captaincy tenure, he was a master of mental disintegration where in he used to wear down a batsman or a team's confidence untill the batsman/team is worn down by self doubt. Ganguly I guess usedd to do that to a certain extent as well. Dhoni dosen't do that..that being said I dont feel it makes him a less aggresive captain . Sehwag does that..IMHO I feel ..He blew up the randiv episode exactly for that though it dint work out this time.

They have gone back to pre 2000 mindset when all to ready to take aggression and take a step back. Players Sree, ZK, Bhaji and Gambhir could be nasty and have their own supporters hate them for their percieved unsporting behaviour. However, no doubt we miss their fire and in face attitude which came in to indian cricket from the advent of dada. Dhoni is nice guy, which ius reflected in teams manner. We need sobs of bhaji , sree and zak to get in the face of oppo. Even RP singh with his celebrations which frankly are designed to annoy oppo and potentially hit them in face with celebrating arm. Goofys looks after he has bowled do not strike fear in to oppo. Although they may strike fear in to his wife.
