Sooda
Has to be said, ignoring these allegations for a sec, cricket will be far poorer for the loss of Amir and Asif. World class pacemen are very few and far between and those two tearing through batting line ups made for refreshing change... Needless to say if they are guilty of anything they should be dealt with appropirately. Link to comment

Sachinism
First test was fixed as well!!!! PAKISTAN players fixed ANOTHER Test match against England, it was claimed last night. The shock allegation that the First Test was nobbled came as cricket was plunged into crisis over a match-fixing ring. Pakistan ace Mohammad Amir allegedly deliberately bowled no-balls in the Fourth Test. Three Pakistan stars including Amir had their mobiles seized by cops. And police were told a MONTH ago about match-fixing in the England v Pakistan Test series, The Sun can reveal. Scotland Yard's Assistant Commissioner Cressida Dick was tipped off over alleged corruption in the first match. An intelligence source warned that several Pakistani cricketers were fixing events within the match, held at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, in July. Ms Dick, head of the Specialist Crime Directorate, was still assessing that information yesterday when a News of the World probe exposed a Pakistani match-fixing ring. The informant told cops a middle-man had corrupted at least one key Pakistani player for a large-scale betting sting involving Asian syndicates. A source told The Sun: "The information given to Assistant Commissioner Dick was credible. But such an investigation would have soaked up a huge amount of resources, with no guarantee of a result. "The intelligence was still being analysed to see if there was any possible way forward. It now transpires that corruption has continued. "With what emerged yesterday and the information supplied four weeks ago, it's hard to see how people will look at cricket the same again. Millions will have been watching on Sunday wondering if it was real or not." The sport was plunged into crisis yesterday as fixer Mazhar Majeed was exposed after being filmed taking £150,000 from undercover reporters. Pakistani bowlers Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif produced no balls exactly as Majeed had promised they would during the Fourth Test at Lord's that ended yesterday. Majeed, 35, was yesterday arrested at his £1.8 million home in Croydon, South London, on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud bookmakers. He was still in custody last night. Pakistan captain Salman Butt, bowlers Amir and Asif and wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal were all questioned by police, team manager Yawar Saeed revealed. Butt, Asif and Amir, 18 - named Pakistan's man of the series - had their mobile phones seized. Mr Saeed said Majeed acted as agent for several Pakistan players, but was banned from visiting them in their hotel rooms on tour. Majeed told the reporters he had already made "masses of money" - including £830,000 from one match - and had set up Swiss bank accounts for the players. Pakistan's Test cricketers are paid from £750 to £1,900 a month, in contrast to England stars who are on at least £10,000 a month. Shocked ex-captain Imran Khan last night urged cricket chiefs not to ban Pakistan and punish the whole country for the actions of "a handful of people". He added: "People who are found guilty should be removed from the team and punished." Police declined to comment on the tip-off. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3116657/First-Pakistan-Test-was-nobbled-too.html man oh man Cricket is getting an ass-kicking Link to comment
Karan114
^ ****ing hell, seems like they've been at it throughout the tour...but then again, they were even planning on throwing a couple of ODIs so obviously the fixing was rampant What utter scum Butt, Amir and the rest are Link to comment
Sachinism
suspicion falls on 80 games The sport was thrown into turmoil after four Pakistan players were questioned as part of a Scotland Yard inquiry into claims they had taken orders from Mazhar Majeed, a British property developer and sports agent, to corrupt a Test match at Lord’s. Sources said that the passports of the cricketers under investigation could be seized and that up to seven players could be questioned on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud. The rest of the squad could also be interviewed as potential witnesses. Conspiracy to defraud carries a maximum jail term of 10 years. England’s victory to seal the four-match series yesterday was tainted as details of the scandal emerged. In a tabloid newspaper sting, Mr Majeed claimed that he had been running a racket with seven players for “about two and a half years†and added “we’ve made masses and masses of moneyâ€. According to the newspaper, before the game at Lord’s, he specifically ordered two Pakistan players to deliver deliberate no-balls, by overstepping the crease as they bowled. They did so exactly at the moments he pinpointed on Thursday and Friday. Mr Majeed reportedly claimed that by tipping off betting syndicates they could place “spot†bets and make millions of pounds. He also made more serious claims that he could arrange to have players throw Test matches and one-day internationals, it is alleged. The Daily Telegraph can disclose that Mr Majeed, who presents himself as a property tycoon and football club owner, has left thousands of pounds in unpaid bills and a string of companies that have closed in his wake. Faisal Hameed, a former business partner of Mr Majeed, said that three years ago their Croydon-based company Bluesky Developments, which sponsored some of the Pakistan players, was dissolved after it began losing money due to the financial crisis. Sources said that the International Cricket Council’s anti-corruption unit, whose investigators flew in from their base in Dubai yesterday, would study all 82 Tests and one-day matches played by Pakistan in the period Mr Majeed reportedly claimed to have rigged matches. They will work with the Metropolitan Police, who are leading the inquiry into the allegation that two bowlers — Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif — deliberately bowled no-balls at Lord’s after Mr Majeed was handed £150,000. The team manager confirmed that detectives raided the players’ hotel on Saturday night, seizing their mobile phones. Amir, Asif, Salman Butt, the team captain, and Kamran Akmal, the wicketkeeper, have all been questioned and provided statements to police. Mr Majeed, 35, was arrested on Saturday night on conspiracy to defraud bookmakers. The accounts of Bluesky, and Croydon Athletic football club, a non-league team owned by him, will be studied by detectives. According to the reports, Mr Majeed boasted he laundered the proceeds of the match-fixing racket through the club. allegations about no-balls being bowled deliberately, but we will follow the money trail and see where that leads us.†The inquiry will be led by the Specialist and Economic Crime Department – which has also investigated MPs suspected of expenses fraud. Commentators said that earlier Tests at Edgbaston and Trent Bridge, which featured a host of no-balls, wides and dropped catches, had also raised suspicions. Asif Ali Zardari, the president of Pakistan, was said to have asked for a report from the country’s cricket board on the allegations. After their defeat yesterday, the Pakistani players were booed by their own supporters and their bus had tomatoes thrown at it as it left Lord’s. A group of about 20 Pakistan fans directed abuse at Butt, chanting “match-fixerâ€. He rejected calls for him to step down from the captaincy. “These are just allegations, anyone can say anything about anyone, that doesn’t make them true,†Butt said after the game. In an article for The Daily Telegraph, Ramiz Raja, the former Pakistan captain, wrote: “The people back home are suffering because of the fight against fundamentalism and the floods… Now it is a new scandal and it has hurt the entire country because of the love and admiration they have for the players.†Lord Condon, the former head of the ICC’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit, has previously confirmed that Pakistan’s tour of Australia last January was under investigation to assess whether the poor performance was a result of a “dysfunctional†team or “something more seriousâ€. Mr Majeed’s brother and business partner, Azhar, insisted yesterday that the allegations were “just rubbishâ€. Angus Fraser, the former England bowler, said: “Everyone with a deep love or interest for the game will be absolutely appalled by these allegations.†http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/cricket/7971107/Cricket-match-fixing-suspicion-falls-on-80-games.html Link to comment
IKnowU
I just want Aamer to come clean out of this. The only part he played in this fiasco seems to be sending no-balls on the field ordered.by the captan. he didn't seem to have any contact with the bookie. I hope for the sake of international cricket and his career he is innocent. Link to comment
Zap_Brannigan
I just want Aamer to come clean out of this. The only part he played in this fiasco seems to be sending no-balls on the field ordered.by the captan. he didn't seem to have any contact with the bookie. I hope for the sake of international cricket and his career he is innocent. The bookie called Amir in the middle of the night just to show that he has control over him in front of the reporter. The only reason they were just spot fixing this series was to give Salman butt an extended run as captain. They fixed the sydney test and many more before that. Amir was part of that team. For the sake of Cricket, i hope the fker is banned for life. I really cant understand people's concern for him. He is a cheat. That is 1st and foremost irrespective of his talent. Not only is he involved in match fixing but also ball tampering. How many of his wickets are vaseline powered? Think about the other teams. Will Stuart board (however of an ******* he is) be really proud of his innings? What if tomorrow we found out that someone like Warne or Mcgrath were fixing during the 2001 Aus in India series? WIll we look at Laxman-Dravid partnership in the same way? There are dozens of players who give it all in the field. They dont need this. So before you pity Amir or Asif, think about the non-cheaters first. Link to comment

No one knows why Pak players got life bans etc after aussie series. Do you ban players for life cos of dressing room problems? Hell no. Looks like pcb knew what was happening but tried to hide it from the world(as usual paki way of life in playing double games) and keep it in house.
