Today I woke up to watch the game hoping for some sort of rear guard fight and determination, instead I woke up to this news. I as a Pakistani fan have gone through more downs than ups in my time, I am not old enough to remember the time when we were a much better team than India or when we had a top class side, so I've been watching the last generation of players. We've had many low points over the recent years, the 1999 WC final, the 2003 World Cup, the 53 and 51 AO Test match vs Aus, the endless beatings at the hands of the Aussies and of course the Test series loss to India in 2004. However today is the one day where I am ashamed, truly ashamed of what my team has done. Our players representing us are often a reflection of the country itself. Today what the players did was so humuliating that I'm scared of facing my colleagues at work when I return after the Bank Holiday. How does one look another man eye to eye after your team does this. I can only hope every single one involved, is banned for life and I mean a REAL LIFE BAN, not a 3 week ban. The rest well, I don't even know if I want to watch cricket anymore. I have not done anything wrong myself, but I feel so humiliated and there were involved players loitering around the dressing room, smiling and laughing as if nothing happened. Shame on them and may they get everything that comes their way.

My educated guess' date=' Mohammed Aamir has very little do with all this.[/size'] He is probably simply taking orders from the senior cheating management (Butt, Asif, Akmal etc..). Why would they involve him in this as well, because they know they have to share the spoils with him as well. So, Butt would have probably asked him to simply over-step and the boy, not knowing exactly what was going on behind the scenes, simply did it, which explans why he was so careless and over-stepped by a foot. I expect Aamir to come out in the open, in a desperate attempt to clear his name. He will probably soon give an interview, claiming he had nothing to do with this and he was simply taking orders from the captain.

And where did i say Aamir, or for that matter, the others, 'ARE' innocent. You seem not able to differentiate b/w the words 'could' and 'is'. I was simply speculating as to how things could have transpired within the cheating HQ known as the Pak team. I dont what exactly happened, niether do you, but all of are allowed to think aloud. Less than a day after the News of the World sent Pakistan cricket heading towards another crisis more skeletons were tumbling out of the closet as it emerged that "several" of Pakistan's players have been monitored by the ICC's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) for some time. Cricinfo understands that Salman Butt and Kamran Akmal are part of a group of players the watchdog has been keeping a close eye on. Added to this, influential sources close to the Pakistan team have said Mazhar Majeed, the man at the centre of the spot-fixing scandal that erupted at Lord's, has also been on the ACSU watchlist but investigations were hindered because he is an agent. "He has been under the scanner for some time. But he is the commercial agent to various players," said the source. "They are their official player agents who are doing all these endorsements. In that case nobody can question their presence."

The Pakistan team was warned about meeting Mazhar and Azhar Majeed by the team management at the start of their tour to England "When we started this tour, I told the players they should not be entertaining these two in their hotel rooms," Yawar Saeed, the team manager, told Cricinfo. "These boys are their agents and, anywhere we tour in the world, we tell our players that they are not allowed to have agents in their hotel rooms. It is the policy on the tour." The team management had warned players as soon as they landed in London against meeting these two brothers because of suspicions about some of their activities, Pakistan's leading Urdu paper Jang had reported on July 27. The reporter, Abdul Majid Bhatti, said he received calls from men claiming to represent the brothers soon after the story appeared, threatening legal action.

I agree with most of what has been said on the forum. Pakistan cricket really takes you on an emotional rollercoaster as a fan, and with each controversy you hope for a fresh start. It seems like every time we're playing a match, we have been coming out of a controversy...it really is tough following a team that does not play for their country. You know what I would rather we lose 5-0 to India in our backyard then for this to happen. I would rather 11 mediocre players playing for their country than 11 world-class cheats. In my entire life of following Pakistan cricket I haven't felt this way, I'm young so I haven't been able to witness the past match-fixing days...but I'm sure this would be right up there. The saddest part is that now as a team we have to once again re-build from scratch since hopefully, the people involved don't ever play for their country again.

If you go by the past, some worthless bakras will be hacked, but the stars will find a way to continue. PCB needs to stand up and make an example of these players to show the world they're serious. If they don't its gonna spell the end for Pakistani cricket, no board in the world would be willing to play against Pakistan knowing certain players involved in match fixing are still playing. No fans would turn up to matches, because they would have lost faith in the game. For the sake of cricket, if found guilty, these players have to be removed from the game.

Why should anyone give a damn about Asif and Aamir? Between the last few months of test matches these cheats have probably made hundreds of thousands of pounds. I wouldn't worry about these guys. While average cricket fans have to spend their hard earned, and honest wages on cricket matches these two clowns will have plenty of money to live like kings in Pakistan.

Talented?? How many cricket matches did Asif play while doped up on steroids and nandro? And Aamir for that matter? Are you 100% sure this guy is drug free? I would rather feel sorry for the other talented bowlers who DIDN'T get into the team and are honest bowlers who didn't get a chance to play because these cheats were picked instead.

But this time, the case would be in ICC's hand, and ICC bans won't get overturned in 2 months. I hope every single player, be it Aamer or Butt, gets life ban if they are involved.

I am guessing these players thought this really isn't match fixing so thought it's ok to bowl a few no balls which don't make any difference to the outcome of a test match.
