vvvslaxman Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 It is as if he was doing well in India. He has been finding difficult to adjust to test level. It requires different technique. You need lot of first class experience to make an adjustment.
Serani Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Technique is rubbish when trying to defend, just hangs the bat out their when he doesnt even need to play at it. He will probably be dropped if India have any sense.
VRV Singh Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 I always thought the logic of him 'putting a price tag' on his wicket was rather strange. I like Raina and wish him well, but the gameplan of bowling to him was always the easiest to develop of our top 7. He was always gonna get chin music and let's face it, when your skillset against them is as shyt as his, it will never end well...
Asoka Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 All he needs is to take inspiration from Steve Waugh and to a lesser extent Ganguly.Well,Steve Waugh was rubbish against bouncing deliveries but he was a gutsy fellow.Over time he learnt to leave and was also not scared of getting hit.He enjoyed tremendous success against Ambrose,Donald, etc.Raina needs to get back to NCA and practise hard.
daryl1985 Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 I think his struggles against the short ball have certainly affected him mentally. He always seems to expect the short ball and once he gets a short ball i feel he is very vulnerable if the next ball is pitched up. In the ODI's in Sri Lanka, i remember Malinga working him over with some short stuff before getting him with a fuller delivery. He needs to go to county cricket (if possible) and try to exorcise his demons against short pitched deliveries. I hope his test woes don't spill over and effect his one day form, we need him coming in as a finisher for the World Cup. I still think he is a quality ODI batsman (in Indian conditions anyway)
achilles Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 *BUMP* Pujara in, Raina and his boytoys :giggle: And not surprising to see none of them posting about Raina these days.
