Speaking of Pujara, the first time I recall seeing him was him playing for his club side in the reality tv show Cricket Star which came on Sony Tv a few years back. Kapil, Jadeja, and Robin Singh anchored the show and players like Salunke and Rahil Shaikh were part of it as well. Even then, Pujara was highly regarded by the commentators as he had scored quite a few runs even back then. The picture is a bit faded but he was quite skinny then but seemed to time the ball well and played in the 'V'. In the recent IPL3, playing for KKR, he really struggled in this format. Yeah I know he's scored a lot of runs in the domestics and that this is a different format and all. Just an observation.. Interesting how he's developed over the years. Well done Chintu :P Anyhow, the real test begins now but dont think he'll get a game for the Aussie tour though so I guess he'll have to wait.

Whoever' date=' the question simply was why suggest that picking Badri & Vijay was Tamilnadu bias when there was an opportunity to pick Pujara over Saha or Rohit Sharma as you say and the selectors didnt. Given that Rohit Sharma was picked and then Saha was drafted in and subsequently Yuvraj & Raina also got opportunities, Pujara was nowhere near first choice during the SA series. So his point about Badri & Vijay being given opportunity because they play for Tamilnadu just reeks of a suggestion without any thought behind it.[/quote'] Absolutely correct. Both Badri and MV were there on merit and not becuse of some bias.

That is complete bias. If you really wanted to pick holes about selection theory and not about South Indian bias' date=' you would have picked the selection of the great Wriddiman Saha over Pujara for that South African series. Murali Vijay picked for Dravid's cover, Badri for Laxman's cover there still was one batting slot open.[/quote'] I would agree 100% with GM. It was some terrible choice of batsmen when Srikanth had a golden opportunity to take a peak into the future. I won't exactly put to to hos south/TN bias but his usual dud selection which he has been doing since last 2 years. And what was the need to go with just 6 batsmen as if they knew nothing could happen to the regular batsmen? Just to refresh the memory: A perfect selection storm We had a perfect opportunity to try Pujara against some quality bowlers.

He hasn't looked nervous at all. Good signs for him. Looks to have a lot of self belief. Hopefully he will have a good start to his career and hopefully another debutant of ours gets a test 100 batting alongside Sachin!

Do we think he will bat at 5 or will Raina come in next? Looking forward to see how he handles things - heard much good stuff about him and yeah, his fielding's been very bright
