fineleg Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 I was looking at BP XI vs Aus and noticed AN is not there. Ok, perhaps he is not in fray for longer format (though he played tour match vs SA) or injury (i haven't followed domestic news) But - why is AN not considered in ODI squad instead of R. Jadoo? AN is decent bowler (not great I know), better bat than RJ, good fielder.
cowboysfan Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 he is a trundler.jadeja is a way better bowler than him.
fineleg Posted September 21, 2010 Author Posted September 21, 2010 ^ hmm, ok cbf, you may be right, maybe I'm just getting desperate to find an all-rounder for ODI XI :((
achilles Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Irfan Pathan is way too superior to both Jaddu and AN.
Holysmoke Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Nayar cannot bowl. Anyway I think he is injured.
Roshanrocks Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 He is not even in the first XI for MI
ZodiaC Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 I can't understand our obsession with allrounders. I agree it's a luxury to have an allrounder but what's the use of having an allrounder who can hardly bat and is mediocre with the ball? The only decent 'allrounder' we have is Irfan Pathan, and apparently Dhoni & the selectors are not even considering him. IMO it's best to play someone like Tiwari in Jaddu's spot. Viru, Raina and Yuvi can easily bowl the 10 overs for us.

diegovegaz Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 nayar is more of a batting all-rounder bowls similar to how kohli does can be handy lower order batsman though
Ravi. Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Uthaapa is crap and he plays idiotic shots most of the times and throws his wicket. Irfan Pathan is neither a batsman nor a bowler. We want someone like Watson or even Shakib Al.Hasan.
fineleg Posted September 22, 2010 Author Posted September 22, 2010 ^ We can want Watson-like or Shakib-like but who do we have? Seems to be, based on replies, Irfan Pathan is all we have. Either that, or just go with specialist bowler or extra batsman :(( for WC2011 timeframe!
Desi Cartman Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 enough is enough, its time to bring back Powar.. TBH I dont know why Powar and Murali dont get as many chances are some players like Yusuf and Jaddo get

We want someone like Watson or even Shakib Al.Hasan. Forget Shakib, we don't have even a bresnan. The closest one is Pathan but Dhoni & the selectors don't want him in the team. And pathan himself should be blamed for that to an extent. So just play Tiwary who looks pretty decent IMO, instead of warming benches. We had nuff of nohit and jaddu
ZodiaC Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I agree with you ' date='we should go with a batsmen at no.7 and my choice will be Uthappa[/quote'] Uthappa has an added advantage of being a part time keeper, but still I think Tiwari should do better. Tiwary has better first class status to back him and Uthappa did get a fairly decent run.
girishk14 Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Ashwin is the best choice for all rounder............took 2 wickets @ 5 rpo and scored like 30 off 20 balls in the only ODI he played......but never played an odi again.
