b555 Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Sam enters a room with 5 doors. One of the doors will lead him to safety and the other 4 will lead him to hell where he will die. In the middle of the room, there are 5 stones lined up in a single file, numbered 1 to 5. These stones will either lie or tell the truth, but the stones have to tell the truth if the stone before it lies and vice versa. For example, if stone 1 lies, stone 2 has to tell the truth. The person does not know anything else about the stones. Also, he cannot ask a direct question to find out if a stone is lying or not. For example, he cannot go up to stone 1 and ask if 1 + 1 is equal to 2. How does he lead himself to safety?

Clarke Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 its simple .. take two steps towards stone 1. then 3 steps towards stone 4. then 4 steps towards stone 2. then 1 final step towards stone 3. just say out loud "khul jaa sim sim" therein lies ur safety

dial_100 Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Very simple. Assign each door to one stone. Ask each stone if assigned door to that stone is THE DOOR to LIFE. If consecutive answers are different then those doors are doors of death. If Consecutive answers repeat, (irrespective of Yes/No, True or False) then IF REPEATs 3 times, then choose the DOOR to the second repeating asnwer. IF REPEATs 2 times for ONLY last two stones, then choose the last door. IF REPEATSs 2 times for the first two stones, then choose the first door.
