There is one small thing you simply refuse to understand. Sehwag, etc are NOT Sachin's peer. Sachin was peerless in his prime in the 90s. Just as you cannot compare any other batsmne of the 90s with someone presently playing, similarly Sachin's performance when he is on the wane shouldnt be compared with someone who is in their prime After ten years if some kid comes when Sehwag is on the verge of retiring and scores at 100+ strike rate because of flat pitches and T20, will it automatically mean that he is better than Sehwag? I seriously dont want to turn this thread into another Sachin vs rest so lets leave it at this or start a new thread

That is where I believe it is YOU, who takes for granted what Sehwag has been doing. Who else scores 100+ strike rate centuries in tests in every series these days on " flat T20 pitches " ? Who else ever did ? Which ever opening batsmen in the 150 year + history of test cricket has made an absolute mockery of the best opening fast bowlers ? I appreciate and admire Sachin for his longevity and hunger for runs. His technique, attitude et al. But Sehwag comes from another planet. Score at breakneck speed, scores BIG, scores consistently and sets up a match like none else ever did. What more can you ask from a test batter if you want to build a consistently winning team ? Such utter domination where world class opening bowlers and captains alike want to spread out the field in the 1st 5 overs because they give up on Sehwag and want to bore him and want him to play in ODI mode where he is not at his best. That is the impact he has made on the game. Let us agree to disagree on this one.

Sehwag is legend in his own way. We have to applaud him for that. But lets not forget that Sehwag can be so dashing (which he naturally is) because he has a super middle order to back him up if he fails. And nearly the entire middle order are legendary players that allow him such freedom. The challenge for India is that these are all once-in-a-lifetime players: sehwag, srt, dravid, laxman. Can the future batsmen rise up to the challenge to fill the void? Anyway coming to this series and this Test, Sehwag's wicket is a huge blow, and it changes the equation on whether India could win this match. They still can, but is a much tougher proposition now.

Here is the boundaries/inngs stat ... which I must say doesnt do justice to Sehwags boundary hitting abilities because someone who scores 8 boundaries in an inngs after playing a gazillion balls will be ranked the same as Sehwag who does it in half the time. IMO the %Boundaries is a better indicator ... but he is on top even in the B-Per-Inngs stat .

^ Please note Sree Australias, sorry I mean Sree Indias start of name calling in post 67. I merley responded in kind. If a poster starts name calling , then unfortunatley threads descend in to this. Also he has consistetnly started name calling me in a variety of threads, hence he will get this response every time, as I learnt along while back that turning the other cheek gets you no were as mods never take action against their favourites and turing the other cheek just encourages the mods favs to increase their abuse.
