Yeah it happens with 99% of the Flash videos that I attempt to watch. I'll give Flashblock a shot, not sure if I can even install it on my work comp tho. I was also thinking if it is possibly an ALSA problem....

Use Partition Magic and install Ubuntu.
CC1981 Posted March 25, 2008 Author Posted March 25, 2008 Adi, Partition Magic isn't free, is it ? I think ubuntu gives you the option to resize/reformat your drives while installing....IMO, Ubuntu runs the best with JFS format and data stored on NTFS is better than on FAT32....

Yeah but it doesn't handle Vista partitions properly. If you have windows XP installed, the ubuntu built-in partitioner should work fine. PS: I've been running linux on XFS for a long time. What are the advantages of JFS ?

Also, i think Ubuntu kernel is faster with JFS as the format for the drive where you are going to put the home folder (ie, the partition/disk you will install it on).

When I was asking about XFS and JFS, they said the best way to go is either ext3 (what I use right now) or reiserfs because JFS, if your box has a power outage and it shuts off, it apparently gets corrupted and people have lost data that way. So I generally ext3 for / and reiser for /home just because reiser for organized small-sized data is really fast. But now for this Ubuntu install, I'm using ext3 for all of the partitions. For those who're using Arch, its an awesome distribution. I've learned quite a few things from it. But I've also used LFS for a period of time and there's nothing more informative and frustrating and annoying and also educational than LFS. You should try it if you had loads of time like I did back in 2005 Winter. I used Gentoo for an extended period as well. I loved portage and still think its the best package manager there is. If I wasn't a student with no time to manage the system well, I'd probably be using Gentoo. Also for those who have Vista and want to try Ubuntu, I believe the latest Ubuntu 7.10 Install Disk can be started up from Vista (i.e burn the iso to the disk and ask Windows to open it or start it or whatever), and it'll tell you that you can actually partition (resize) your hard drive from Vista itself and install Ubuntu from Vista itself. I tried it on a friend's laptop. it worked quite well. Its "user-friendly" as well.

coffee_rules Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Love it so far. The only problem is MS silverlight that is used in some of the apps - like Netflix. I have to use the VM to run some of the apps which is not very convenient.
