Not taking that bait mister Ponting would be chewing his words now... it was his team which reached the finals of WC T20 while during the same time has slipped from World no.1 to 4 and very probably No.5 in test cricket......

And why would Ponting care- he doesn't even play T20 anymore?

Not that I condone any jeering, but maybe it has to do with the fact that Ponting is a poor sportsman, whiner, a cry baby, and merely a modern day great as opposed to Tendulkar who is the paragon of sportsmanship, conduct, and an all time great. Comparing Tendulkar's and Ponting's stature in the game is rubbish. Having said all that, crowds should never boo or jeer anyone, IMHO.

People dislike Ponting.. Was Warne ever jeered? The biggest cheer of the day was reserved for Adam Gilchrist when he was shown on the big screen... You get what ou deserve... I didn't hear this squad when Harbhajan Singh was booed consistently during 2008 tour down under??? It was rubbish... I wouldn't have booed Ponting.. but being a professional sportsman he has to take it chin up.... And don't tell me crowds don't boo players of touring teams in Australia, not only harby but others have had the misfortune too.. remember "Hadlee is a w*nker" cries???

He was indeed playing T20s and contracted with IPL when he made that comment wasn't he?? Anyway it's irrelevant, we are not arguing what he feels about T20, but what he said about team India... esp when it won the T20 WC, in which certainly he also was part of.... and also about the Indian test team... Do you think Indian fans are going to just forget all those?? And then there is the Sydney 2008 fiasco, where his attitude was criticised by even Australian writers like Peter Roebuck...

Look at his body language while he is talking to press and compare this with any other captain of the world, including Australian ones like S Waugh or M Taylor. There are many such instances with Ponting over a period of time. It's good to be magnanimous but probably you are forgetting kind of boo-s that Harbhajan was getting down under during 2008 tour. Ponting jeering is nothing compared to that. Through IPL, indian cricket fans have proven that they can really accept outsiders - 3 IPL teams are captained by outsiders - so I'll not be worried about this instance and will definitely not take this as an example of non-acceptance of cricket greats (from outside India) by indian crowd. This was their reaction to Ricky Ponting, not to an Australian great and I'm ok with this.

I just watched the crowd applaud Marcus Noth's 100. But yeah on other grounds in India the crowd is silent when the opposing player hits a boundary. England crowd is more appreciative in this sense.

Sorry mate but you have no argument really because the cameras go to the crowd and you see everybody stand up and clap pretty much.
