Reactions to the 2 - 0 Loss: Press Clippings from Australian Newspapers

"It's going to be interesting to see how the group bounces back now,'' Ponting said. ''That's three Test matches we've lost in a row. I'm not sure in my time playing for Australia that that's happened. It certainly hasn't happened since I've been captain. There are some issues there we need to deal with. There's no doubt we've got some work to do on, one, how to bat against reverse-swing bowling and, two, how to deliver when we've got the ball in our hand. Zaheer and Sreesanth have done that a lot better than us this series." When informed that they had not lost three Tests in a row since 1988, Ponting replied: "I knew it was a long time ago. I wasn't playing in 1988, although it feels like it. We have to get off that train, for sure. We have to start winning Test matches." On 2-0 result: "It's probably a little bit harsh, isn't it? We played very, very well for the majority of the first Test. We played pretty well for the majority of this Test match. India deserve to have won both the games but I think, even if you ask them, they'd be a bit flattered by that end result. Our next Test is at the Gabba against England at the start of the Ashes series, and we have to make sure we play five good, long, tough days of Test-match cricket then." http://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricket/australia-fall-further-down-the-test-table-as-hosts-romp-home-20101013-16k1c.html

Intersting. They dont talk much about how well India played though. Seem to focus on how poor they were. Was expecting some eulogies of the brilliance of India!
Yeh exactly my thoughts. Its like the result were only down to how poor they were

I agree. The reactions have been muted somewhat.

We won with a bowling attack that was 75%. Guess how the performance would've been had all the bowlers been on top of their game.
That is a very stupid analogy.. How about if Australia's batsman had been on the top of their game?

Yeah, but you don't know what the questions were.. They may have been questions which provoked those sort of responses.

I am talking about aussies media. None of the match reports or articles seem to want to give any praise to Indian players and their performance. I mean Sachin was magnificent yet no seen one word praising his performance in these articles. Odd really

I don't remember Indian newspapers writing "eulogies" about David Boon when he destroyed us in 1992.

Yes. You lost because your best batsmen, Ben Hilfenhaus and Nathan Hauritz had a poor tour.
