Sooda Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Nice point Boss, should it be from the Mid 90's so that a comparision can be made with Dravid and Laxman...? This thread is epic. How many times have we been here though. Seriously.
kabira Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Manny allow me to put an abrupt end to this nonsense .... Below is the stat that shows the no.of times a Indian batsman has top scored in a entire test match (both inngs put together ) since Nov'89. In matches won : SR Tendulkar 14 VVS Laxman 8 R Dravid 8 V Sehwag 7 M Azharuddin 5 G Gambhir 3 SC Ganguly 3 VG Kambli 2 W Jaffer 2 In all Matches : SR Tendulkar 42 R Dravid 22 V Sehwag 21 SC Ganguly 15 VVS Laxman 15 M Azharuddin 11 G Gambhir 7 W Jaffer 6 MS Dhoni 5 NS Sidhu 5 There exists simply no comparison except for Sehwag given the proportionate no.of tests ... but we all know how hard it is to construct a similar record over the next 80 test matches for VS. But thats not the criteria. He just won 5 MOS and he was poor captain.
Anakin Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Patriot saab, take a bow. Never seen anyone with such spirit and never say die attitude to pwnage of epic proportion.

Nice stats, Boss. Can you also do it for second highest scorer, just out of curiosity. I think Dravid would come out pretty high on that, given the number of times he has provided support role.
patriot Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Abbe yaar kitne baar yehi baat pey rota rahega ? VVS would have ended up on a losing side but for Ishant Sharma and Ojha. They lasted 4 times as many overs as the tail in Chennai (never mind the runs). That can happen when you are up against Waz arguably the best bowler to tailenders. And to compare that inngs against Mohali is just not a apple-to-apples comparison given the amount of runs the no.of crappy batsmen and ofcourse the quality of Bowling attack ... I mean Bollinger + Johnson + Hilfenhaus + Horry vs Waz + Waqar + Saqi .... there exists no comparison whatsoever. Ofcourse I expect you to not understand any of this and continue with your one point agenda but what else is new. LOL. Boss, please first show some honesty in your assessment. Let that be a starting point. VVS did not get a choke fart ( like Tendy did when Mongia got out in Chennai )and get out before Ishant and Ojha. That is the difference and Tendy is known for such choke farts. You obviously don't know a thing about that series or are plain lying. Waqar was most incompetent on that tour. Saqi was the wrecker in chief. You will always have excuses and come up with blinkered logic that borders on being dishonest.
The Outsider Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 ^ And the Aussie bowlers were breathing fire in this series? :hysterical:

You have continually moved the goal posts in this long running debate. Secondly, I asked you to provide a comarative analysis of SRT with the contenders to prove your point relative to choking et al and you haven't replied to my post. I am more than willing for that anaylsis to be a clear, concise qualitative one, it doesn't have to be statistical. I really want to see whether you have the cojones.
patriot Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 and the 214+53* that was scored 4 days ago was any different from Dravids effort exactly how ? :sarcastic_hand: :omg: It was " different" 1) Perhaps because that was chasing 1st innings of 550+ in Aus against Aus ? 2) Perhaps because that was in winning India's 1st test match in Aus in 20 years ? 3) Perhaps because Dravid had to fight against 4/85 ...as against 3/346 that Tendy did ? Can't expect a heavily blinkered person to understand the difference. And the 103* vs Eng was any different from BCL and VVS how ? LOL. I don't even want to waste my time on this, when the entire England press said Sehwag won the match for India. Gambhir scored 70 odd at the top, Yuvraj Scored 90 odd . VVS and BCL din't have such luxuries. But rehne de Boss, I don't want make efforts to wake up someone pretending to sleep.
Anakin Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 This guy is incorrigible. Why are you all wasting your time on this idiot.

Time to bust some chops. :rotfl::rotfl: Do those 14 also include those efforts where he feasted on Bangladesh and Zimbabwe and became the " Indian batsmen who top scored in an entire match ( both innings) that India won" ? :cantstop: Like this ? http://www.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/64111.html Or like this ? http://www.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63976.html Or matches ...where he cashed in when the opposition was down after Dravid had done all the hard work when the going was toughest and the little man only had to come in at 2/185 ? It took Ganguly who scored at a blistering pace in the dark to make Tendy understand the need of the hour as the little man was prodding away. No wonder Dravid got MoM. http://www.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63999.html WOW...Boss you have well and truely put and abrupt end to the non sense by great maneuvering attempts...:giggle::giggle:

OMFG. 1) They are all test playing nations, if you have a grouse with that please take it up with the ICC. 2) If SRT had scored a 0 in al those games, you would have held out the same matches as examples of his lack of greatness. Please continue with your dishonesty, you provide much entertainment to everyone here. I am still waiting for your qualitative analysis.

Yeah team India can't even beat Bangladesh ( who has never beaten a decent ranji team in a first class match ) and Zimbabwe at home without the opportunistic choker. First give instances of the choker's performance in matches when the going has got really tough like his competitors have done...then I shall come up with " qualitative " analysis.
patriot Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Boss- nice try. :-) Time to bust some chops. So you have no argument other than bad mouthing SRT? Exactly what I thought. First give instances of the choker's performance in matches when the going has got really tough like his competitors have done...then I shall come up with " qualitative " analysis. Sorry, you are making the claim that SRT is not a great batsman not me. So the weight of providing evidence rests with you in the debate. You might sucker others with such arguments, not me. Let us see how good your debating skills are. Come on boy or are you too afraid. Make your case.
patriot Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Actually we would have lost that 1st earlier this year vs BD ... it would have been right after Sehwags "Ordinary" comment ... and we would have never heard the end of it ... Yeah ..right. We are No.1 but we always run the risk of losing to Bangladesh. Still a silly excuse for the opportunistic feats against minnows Zim and Bang 6-10 years ago that you Boss are trying to flaunt.

I don't have instances of his great knocks under sheer pressure that brought victory to India...unlike what his peers have played. If you have please feel free to share them.:giggle:
