Hurriyat chief Geelani heckled in Delhi seminar

Syed Ali Shah Geelani, the leader of the hardline faction of the Hurriyat Conference in Kashmir, was heckled by a group of Kashmiri Pandits here on Thursday for his alleged anti-India divisive politics. The protestors, shouting slogans like 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and 'Vande Mataram', created ruckus at the convention on 'Azaadi -- he Only Way', which was being attended by a number of sympathisers of Kashmiri separatists. A shoe was later hurled towards Geelani on the dais, but it missed him. Scores of protestors' later shouted slogans against him following which the security forces had to intervene. The security personnel, who covered the Hurriyat chief soon after the incident, later forced the protestors to move out of the seminar hall. Geelani is a dog and should be somehow encountered but I am really getting pissed off even now after reading one of the statements made by Arundhati Roy. I dont know if she is a paid agent of China and Pak or really a insane lunatic lady. She seems to be everywhere where there is anti-India whether it is supporting Maoists or supporting the separatists in Kashmir. And just check what she said at the conference as reported by various news sources: "Kashmir should get Azadi from bhookhe-nange Hindustan" How the bloody above statement can be allowed to be made at all. It is an extremely anti-national statement insulting not only the nation but every Indian and the bloody b*tch is allowed to go on with it. I am now really worried about some aspects of our democracy and freedom of speech. There should be criminal prosecution for both her and Geelani. Hate these bustards really. If they do not like the nation then just throw these two out of the nation.

Jaitley blasts Arundhati & co Prosecute secessionists, stop their tirade’ The Union Government on Friday ordered a probe into anti-national speeches made by author-activist Arundhati Roy and separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani while advocating azadi for Kashmir in a seminar on Thursday. This came after senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley lashed out against the Government for letting the separatists openly promote sedition and taking no action against them. Reacting to Jaitley’s accusations of “doing nothing†even as the separatists united “under the nose†of the Government, Home Minister P Chidambaram said that Delhi Police would take action and the entire seminar had been videographed. “I strongly reject Arun Jaitley’s charge that the Union Government was doing nothing when a seminar was held yesterday (Thursday) in which Geelani and others participated,†Chidambaram, in a statement, said. Though Roy had gone to the extent of saying that “Kashmir should get azadi from bhookhe-nange Hindustanâ€, Chidambaram did not seem to be sure if she had violated any law by making such an anti-national speech. “If it is established prima facie that the laws have been violated, Delhi Police will take action in accordance with the law,†he said. The Home Minister’s statement came soon after the BJP leader made a scathing attack on the Government for allowing seditious activities. “What happened in Delhi yesterday when a group of separatists got together to hold a seminar to promote sedition under the nose of the Government has stunned the nation. In a democracy, the right to secede cannot be accepted in the garb of right to free speech.†Jaitley said that it was dismaying to note that the Union Government neither took any preventive measures nor any action to punish the guilty. Demanding prosecution of Geelani and other speakers, he pointed out that the right to free speech enshrined in the Constitution cannot be used against the national interest. “There are two responsibilities and obligations of the State — to prevent such events from taking place and to punish the offenders. The Government exercised the option of looking the other way which is not available to it.†Demanding a first information report be filed against those who made such outrageously anti-national speeches, the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha said it seemed that the Union Government had abdicated its duty of protecting the unity and integrity of the country. “The whole country was shocked when separatists met under the nose of the Union Government to encourage sedition in India. Reports indicate that the issue was India cannot be one and has to be broken up,†he said. Hurriyat hardliner Geelani and other Kashmiri separatists as well as Maoist and Khalistani sympathisers came together under one platform to demand independencefor Kashmir at the seminar Azadi — The Only Way on Thursday. Geelani, Arundhati to be booked under sedition charge

NEW DELHI: A go-ahead to file a case of sedition against hardline Kashmiri separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and activist Arundhati Roy has been given to Delhi Police by the Union Home Ministry. However, it is far from clear now whether the police will proceed with the case although legal advice received by it says that a case has been made out under Section 124 of IPC which applies to cases where disaffection against the State is advocated. The police is now mulling over possible ramifications of proceeding with the case and is likely to seek political clearance to go ahead. Delhi Police is said to be having some hesitation on going ahead with filing the case because once registered then arrests would have to be effected of those named in the FIR. Officials of the Delhi Police met Union Home Ministry officials and had a detailed discussions in this regard earlier in the day, the sources said. An unfazed Geelani said in Kashmir that there were already 90 cases have been registered against him. "I have 90 FIRs registered against me already, this will be 91st," he said. The legal opinion of the Home Ministry was received by Delhi Police yesterday giving a go ahead to Delhi Police for registering a case against firebrand separatist leader Geelani and Roy besides others for purportedly giving "hate speeches" at a seminar held here last week. The legal department had favoured registering a case against them under Section 124-A of Indian Penal Code which states "whoever by words, either spoken or written, or by signs, or by visible representation, or otherwise, brings or attempts to bring into hatred or contempt, or excites or attempts to excite disaffection towards" the State and can be sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment. The seminar, in which Geelani was also speaking, had triggered sharp comments from the BJP. BJP leader Arun Jaitley had accused the government of "looking the other way" when a number of separatist groups met at a conference to instigate session and to say that India cannot be one and must be broken. However, rejecting the BJP leader's charge, home minister P Chidambaram had said Delhi police will take action in accordance with law over the speeches made by Kashmiri separatist leader Syed Ali Shah and others at a seminar here on October 21. At the convention on 'Azadi--The Only Way', Geelani shared the stage with writer Roy and pro-Maoist leader Vara Vara Rao among others. Geelani was heckled by the audience with one of them throwing a shoe.

Cong asks Arundhati Roy to withdraw Kashmir statement

ALLAHABAD: A senior Congress leader on Monday asked noted writer and activist Arundhati Roy to withdraw her statement on Kashmir, saying it was "contrary to historical facts" and could mislead the nation and the international community. Reacting to the comment made by the writer at a seminar in Kashmir yesterday, AICC member Satya Prakash Malaviya said, "It was really surprising to see such an irresponsible statement from someone who is one of the country's best-known writers. "She must withdraw her statement which is contrary to historical facts and could mislead the nation as well as the international community," he said. The Booker Prize winning author had said "Kashmir has never been an integral part of India. It is a historical fact. Even the Indian government has accepted this." The former Union Minister said that Roy "would do better to brush up her knowledge of history and know that the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir had acceded to the Union of India after its erstwhile ruler Maharaja Hari Singh duly signed the Instrument of Accession on October 26, 1947. "And the state, consequently, has become as much an integral part of India as all the other erstwhile princely states have," he said.

Why is the need to request her to withdraw her statement. A warning should be issued for making all the anti-national statements for such a long amount of time. Dont see the point in begging or requesting her to withdraw her statements. It would only look like dancing to her tunes instead.
