If IPL 2011 had 10 teams as it was originally intended to have, then there was an excellent chance that guys like Clarke may have landed some sort of contract, in the $300,000 - $400,000 range. But with looming prospect of having just 7 teams for next year's competition, it could be slim pickings for the fringe T20 players. His inferior T20 batting notwithstanding, an Aussie like Clarke is by and large a valuable addition to any team, especially given his fielding. The Aussie bring in a lot of professionalism and ruthlessnes, not just during game-time, but also duiring training. With his captaincy experience with the national team, he could also potentially guide or even captain his franchize. That seems pretty unlikely now.

Sachin should be the highest bid for the way he is playing now. BTW some of the biggest flops were Symonds and Mortaza (not sure if it was in the last ipl, memory not so clear not to mention only 1 game for 60 grants like WTF) who sold for a lot of bucks but made little or no impact in the game. Who is going to rip up the bid this time I wonder...

It was so obvious that some of these guys were taking a piss at the IPL simply because people weren't falling at their feet. Interesting thing is we have people here on this forum quoting guys like him as an example of how our players should also skip IPL in favor of keeping themselves fit for tests. Guess the true intentions are finally in the open.

I dont know why people expect players to be all some fantastic saints and not play IPL to boost some false ego. They have a right to earn money for themselves as much as others. We dont spare any opportunity of making money ourselves, but we expect players to make sacrifices so that we could look uoto them. We expect them to serve our own ego as we define it. As long as they are earning money in the legitimate way, they have every right to do it.

But disturbing aspect is, when people like Clarke, who don't get an opportunity to play because of whatever reason, come out and give BS facts that country comes first. He could have shut up and that would have been it. But instead he has blabbered about his love for the country atleast 100 times when the truth was something else.
