Tribute to SG Cricket Balls

I must admit as much as I love Indian cricket, I was never a biggest fan of cricket played in India. It is a combination of the pitches which have been lifeless, sometimes too favourable for batsman, maybe because of the quality of the broadcast ( all legends in Neo ), sometimes because of the lack of crowds at test matches. But over the last say 10 years or so one thing has definitely made the proceedings more exciting for me. This (drums) I think it has added a additional dimension to the challenge in India both for batsman and bowlers. While, it does offer a little bit of swing at the start of the innings and it has relatively pronounced seam which which can help the spinner for grip and bounce, but more importantly, it has brought reverse swing into game unlike ever before seen by me in India. And critically the reverse can last for more than 20 overs. This has clearly evened up the contest between the bat and the ball and like the Australia series showed, if the batting side scored 450 in 1st innings then the game is one for both teams. Obviously, it has also helped that our bowlers esp. Zaheer have mastered the ball and given us a definite edge over the opposition.

I think we haven't met out our match as far as reverse-swing goes. It would have been fun to see what Amir & Co could or could not do , but that doesn't seem likely for next few years. Or even Jones for that matter. All these Jonhsons and broads don't seem to be anywhere close to getting any reverse swing.

it would have been interesting to see the current pak bowlers(including the cheaters) play with the SG.i think the indian bowlers would get more reverse swing that the pakis who are not used to SG balls as they play with kookaburra at home(?).
