dial_100 Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 I have been thinking of starting a thread on this great Sufi singer from pakistan. The compositions and the lyrics of the qawwalis he sang, were so great. The meanings will sooth your soul while the melodies will touch your heart. I know it is not for everyone but all those who are interested. I have very immense respect for this legend. I am so lucky that I can listen to all his qawwalis on my laptop.

Kisi ki aankh mein nahien ashq-e-gham, Tere baad kuch bhi nahien hai kam, Tujhe zindagi ne bhulaa diya, Tu bhi muskuraa ussay bhool jaa. Na woh aankh hi teri aankh thi, Na woh khwaab hi tera khwaab tha, Dil-e-muntazir to yeh kis liye tera jaagnaa, Ussay bhool jaa, ussay bhool jaa. Yeh jo raat din ka hai khel saa, Ussay dekh iss pe yakeen naa kar, Nahien aks koi bhi mustaqil sar-e-aaena, Ussay bhool jaa, ussay bhool jaa. Jo bisaat-e-jaan hi ulatt gaya, Woh jo raaste mein palat gaya, Ussay rokne se haasil kya, Ussay matt bulaa, ussay bhool ja.

Nova Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 The music of Bandit Queen, an Indian production based on the legend of outlaw heroine Phoolan Devi, is the first-ever film score composed by the legendary Quwwali devotional singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Cricket_Guru Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 you cant really pick one, his voice just wins, doesn't matter what he's saying and in what album! D2ozJ4cXrBU
dial_100 Posted November 11, 2010 Author Posted November 11, 2010 you cant really pick one, his voice just wins, doesn't matter what he's saying and in what album! D2ozJ4cXrBU Yes. May be. But I think the one I posted first is composed in such a way that no body dares to sing it. Even though it was sung so cleanly but I find it impossible to get hold of it despite being so catchy. The way he sung it is so different from what Gulam Ali sahab.
