pensionplan Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Great information about Kaif Thanks for sharing hereAre you Kaif yourself? What great information with regards to Kaif is shared here? And a better question yet. Is there information regards to Kaif the cricketer that is worth sharing leave alone great? He is one of the most useless cricketers ever to have played in 125 ODI's and 13 Tests in the history of the game for the strokeless wonder that he is.

Andy Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Hey he gave us a Big Momment of Glory, If we cant praise him, atleast shouldnt Ridicule his contributions like this.
Sooda Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 ...didnt make any challenger squads this year. Despite averaging 48 last year and 57 the year before in domestic cricket, let alone being the captain of one of the best state sides. I do think Kaif has been very harshly treated for a little while now. He was picked in a squad to play Seth Africa when SRT got injured last year but then dosent get in any further ones. Crapola gits like Badrinath get in the squad, who cant even score against emerging teams. Kaif meanwhile proves himself in tests in a crisis-as he did when he had a good series vs Aus in 04 which SHOULD have seen him play a bit more, But dropped again until that 91 versus England at Nagpur nearly 2 years later, followed by a good series in WI where he scored a pretty good ton and then is dropped for good to pave way for Ganguly. Yes the big names are all better batsmen. But surely he should be on the fringes, ahead of middle order candiddates like Badri He played well vs Aus in a tour match last year apparently with a new free-er scoring technique. So. Why not Kaif...? That is an old thread that I started http://www.indiancricketfans.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=784766 He wont play for India again. but he did a lot more than just that one moment of glory. Anyone who calls him 'strokeless', 'useless' etc are pretty grossly mistaken and make their judgements based on some weird bias rather than actual fact. Id like to see objective measured and at least somewhat intelligent responses to the points I raised in that thread (granted they don't hold true anymore, but they most certainly did a year and a bit ago) Heck Kaif had a storming time for Central Zone last year and should have made the squad to face SA at home instead of Rohit who had a huge domestic average based largely on on innings; and we were then stuck with Saha playing as a batsman
Anakin Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 He should've been played more in test matches which would suit him more, but unfortunately for him, there were not too many spots and uv was preferred.
pensionplan Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Why are we discussing this hyped up player who has made it to the Indian team based on some U-19 exploits and lucky to have played 138 international matches for India when there are players with 50 plus FC average that never got a sniff at the Indian team. This guy is grossly overrated, lowly talented who should be thanking his stars when he looks at his FC exploits and compare them to other better batsman than him that never got an extended run. How he played 125 ODI's with a 73 S/R batting on mostly flat tracks at No.6 and 7 is beyond me. I never ever want to see this useless player any where close to the Indian team ever. Mohammed Kaif here forth should be referred to as 'His Uselessness'.
Sooda Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 ^ sorry man but youre just ranting, no basis in his record or achievements

pensionplan Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 The time has come for 'His Uselessness' aka 'Stroke less Wonder' who goes by Kaif to be dropped from the U.P. side and strip him of his captaincy. U.P lost to Haryana and the stroke less wonder has scores of 14 and 11 in each of the innings. This guy has to be the luckiest cricketer ever to have represented India in so many games with the kind of mediocre game he has.
vamos_rafa Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 Not taking anything away from Virat' date=' But Kaif won us a Final outside SC. Cant recall which Final Virat have won, Let alone outside SC.[/quote'] Both of them won the U19 WC in sub continents only. Kaifu won it in SL if i am not wrong while VK did the same in Malaysia.
vishalvirsingh Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 Both of them won the U19 WC in sub continents only. Kaifu won it in SL if i am not wrong while VK did the same in Malaysia. Warne dropped Kaif from Rajasthan Royals and do u know he may not be picked in IPL4.. possibly i will have to start a thread stating that some hardworking players with limited Talent who Played for India.. Kaif 's name would be first.
ViruRulez Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 Kaif did not have the guts to play quality innings. His confidence was rock bottom even when he made into the team and when he was kicked out too. I am still not sure how does he do so well as a captain with such low confidence. His performance as captain in the U-19 world cup as well as UP captain for the last many years is really surprising. His biggest weakness is his lack of confidence. He is not a forgotten hero but instead a gutless loser to be frank. Frankly speaking I somewhat hated Virat Kohli's arrogance when he first came to the team and he was in a similar position as Kaif was a decade ago. But he removed his arrogance and showed his talent with great confidence and self-belief and proved to be a real hero. I have grown great admiration for him in the last few months instead. By just comparing the confidence factor of Kohli and Kaif you can make out why Kaif is forgotten and Kohli is a rapidly emerging hero. Kaif is forgotten due to his own lack of confidence in himself and his abilities. In order to succeed in life or in any field you have to be courageous. Except the Natwest final innings I never remember Kaif playing with self-confidence. Even in that knock he was initially low on confidence once again though he improved later on after Yuvi opened up with his shots.

HE played one of the best ODI innings in Natwest finals. Assuming it was a fluke but still he would have had some nerves and confidence to play that way for a day. And how can you be so sure that he grew in confidence once Yuvi opened up? Kaifu was quietly taking singles and doublles. That does not mean lack of confidence by any means. I am no Kaif fan myself but I cant comprehend some of the statements being made against him here.

The tragedy is there are guys in India who slogged their entire career's with a 50 plus FC average that never even got a call up. Here is this useless guy who gets a free pass for most part and when he gets relegated to the FC scene he is not even a match to the likes of Badrinath, Jaffer, Rahane, Muzumdar, Gambhir, Mukund etc and even the younger brigade Rohit, Kohli, Raina and Pujara to name a few easily have a much better FC outings. Goes on to show the quality of this guy or lack of it.

I watched the Natwest finals live and that is why I am saying it. I saw his body language. You can make out easily the confidence of a person from his body language and he was surely not that confident at the start. Yes he was taking singles and he always does that. But taking singles does not imply confidence. You can see that is he is always tensed while batting even today. He was never confident and perhaps will never be. A cricketer must be confident for him to succeed and to play his strokes freely. But I surely wont take away from his the great knock in that finals and to be frank he is a way was also partly the architect of the Indian cricket's recent success story as Natwest finals was the beginning of the rise which has been happening for us ever since that time.

Kaif rightfully made entry into the national side by virtue of his capabilities as he captained India U-19 side to world cup glory very well. Even after he got relegated to the FC scene he made UP a Ranji winner several times whereas it was going down as a team before he took on their captaincy. He has done very well a a captain to be frank and I would not doubt his contention at any place. He was also not a slogger and I have never seen him slogging to be frank. But he is a limited player very low on confidence though maybe a very good captain.

And besides leading a side successfully has got nothing to do with getting selected as a batsman or a bowler. Let us not mix up things. Having gotten that out of the way and only focusing on the skills as a player on the field when you say that he is limited as player that is low in confidence it is as good as saying a player is useless that does not cut it at the international level which is what Kaif proved to be despite all those chances. The team never got a return back on the investment for most part. Unfortunately players who outperformed Kaif hands down at the FC level head to head over the last 4 years did not even get a sniff at the national side which is what gets my goat.
Sachin=GOD Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 Some of the criticism coming towards him is uncalled for. At the time he was playing (2002-2005/6) we tried many players like Dinesh Mongia, Hemang Badani, S Sriram, Venugopal Rao etc, but, however good these players were in FC, they were never able to translate that FC performance into good performances at the international level.

We had barely any talented players (real deal) coming in that period, sans a few like Yuvi. Now we can lulz at it but was really one of the worst period in terms of emergence of genuinely talented players.
